[Signing] Wade Redden to STL

The St. Louis Blues have agreed to a deal in principle with defenceman Wade Redden to a one-year $800,000 contract. Redden cleared waivers on Thursday and was immediately bought out by his former team the New York Rangers. The 35-year-old played the last two seasons with the Connecticut Whale of the AHL, scoring 12 goals and adding 50 assists in 119 games played. Redden's last season in the NHL came in 2009-2010 where he appeared in 75 games for the Rangers, posting two goals and 14 points. During his 13 NHL season, the Lloydminster, Saskatchewan native spent time with the Rangers and Ottawa Senators. Redden was originally drafted second overall by the New York Islanders in the first round of the 1995 NHL Draft.
