TRADE ALERT!

As per TSN.

The Boston Bruins have made their first trade of the deadline. Not any of the names which has been circulating out of Boston over the past 48 hours, however, an interesting move by GM Burke.

To Boston:

J. Lupul

S. Kostitsyn

To Nashville:

M. Frolik

M. Beleskey

GM Burke was looking to add scoring depth, well he achieved it.

Acquiring Lupul, who is coming off an injury should add to that depth scoring. The 30 year old who has 5 years left at a cap hit of 5.2 million is hefty, but Burke is dedicated to win and I think Lupul will help.

Kostitsyn, an interesting pick up. He is entering his contract year, with 3 million. He is likely a rental, again, not a big body, but will add scoring depth on that third line for the Bruins. A good deal.

Nashville, getting younger with some scoring skill and speed in the Florida first rounder Frolik. He is 26 in his contract year as well, hitting 2.33 on his cap hit. Will probably be in for a raise, however, Nashville will have the funding to throw a long term contract his way. Nashville will get a lot out of this young man in their top six! M. Beleskey could not find his home in Boston, being shifted throughout the bottom 6 line up. This guy is big, young and mean. He too in his contract year with 3.3 mill on the books will want a raise, but he will get it in Nashville. A future second line enforcer will fit in well with Nashville.

Good move for both clubs. We'll see what more comes out of Boston as a lot of big names are being thrown around. Burke is on the phones I hear and is even considering dealing a big name player to a division rival?

Trade Alert!

The Boston Bruins have made another trade. This time it involves some bigger names. We here on the panel, have been waiting for the moving of veteran RW Marian Hossa. He is now a Montreal Canadian, sources say. Ironic I know. Two of the biggest rivals in the NHL making such a blockbuster deal. This is going to be one of these trades, that one of these teams look come playoffs, or next season and one will regret it, the other, love it.

As of now it looks like the Boston Bruins are going to acquire:

To Boston:

K. Letang

&

D. Heatley

To Montreal:

M. Hossa

J. Joensuu

&

D. King

What a deal coming out of Boston. Burke wasn't lying when he said he was going to get faster, and more lethal. Letang is a monster. A power-play quarter back. He's quick and he's going to bring that offense from the blue line, which Boston is missing. It's difficult to say what this means for current Captain Z. Chara. The Bruins certainly might look to hold on to him for their play off push; however, with Letang in his contract year, this is a big money move for Burke. Also getting Heatley is just added flavor for Burke. Burke knew what he was doing and it puts the Lupal deal into more perspective. Now he has the 1-2 punch on the left side of the ice in scoring with Lupal and Heatley. Heater has a big contract, but him as well in his contract year, is manageable. He'll take a discount or he'll walk come the summer. Nonetheless, big move in Boston, they have the pieces to make a push for the playoffs. And more still might happen as Chara maybe moved, Krejic too

Let's not forget about Montreal in this deal. They look like they are going to be a playoff team. Adding Hossa makes them even more dangerous on the power play as Hossa has been easily Boston's best power play scorer. J. Jonesuu, who was going to be replaced by Lupal is going to find a home in Montreal. He's young, mean and big! Did I mention he's big! Montreal needs size! They got it entering the playoffs with this man in their top 6! King, a suitable depth player. Will certain add to any injuries which might happen down the stretch for Montreal.

These two teams improved!

Boom!

Huge deal in Philly, as the Ryan sweepstakes finally come to a close. We are happy to welcome Jamie Benn to the team! Benn is a great Canadian kid who plays a tough, skilled two-way game that fits well with our team. Most importantly, he gives us a top line left handed shot, which the Flyers have been searching for all season.

Official trade details;

To PHI: Benn and a 2nd

To OTT : Ryan and a 7th

To WPG: His original players(from Benn deal) and a 7th
