[Discussion] Roberto Luongo Trade Thread 7.0

Recommended Posts

Thomas arguably had one of the greatest season and playoffs ANY goalie has ever had ... there's no denying that. He was great two years before that as well...

But that's it. Thomas will never go down as anything other than a guy who played good one year... had a bad year and then godlike another year.

Two great seasons doesn't make u elite. A career of dominance makes u elite.

Ill also add that 2011 for Thomas was better than any year luongo has ever had. That being said luongo has done it for a living ans that's y he's elite. Not for just two seasons

As a certified Lou basher; I also pay him his respects. Lou spent 10 years where year in, year out, he was a top 5 goalie in the this league. He's a Stanley Cup ring away from HHOF in some opinions...

I'm not convinced Bernier will ever hold that kind of torch?

Probably because Bernier has more upside than Lou.

Completely agree. Don't rule out Oilers. Reimer is a far better goalie than Dubnyk and TO still traded for a goalie. Times up in Edmonton, they can't keep selling the fans on a rebuild. With Gagner being available, there could be a deal there as long as Lu will waive his NTC.

If Lu really wants to go to Florida he should be giving his own sales pitch to Talon and the Owner. Maybe donating some of his "terrible contract" or time to marketing the Panthers.

I agree with u I am a luongo Homer. I wished Cory nothing but success... after all I wanted my team to do well. The team I would kill for... but after the playoffs I'm confident in luongo as the better, far more experienced and more clutch goalie.

Argue with me all u want... my opinion won't change until Cory proves he can carry this team to the finals.

I personally could care less if they have to take back $$ - I've always thought it was reasonable to take someone like Upshall - and with the compliance buyouts, the cap drop, the lockout b.s., and a couple of first round exits, I think it's reasonable that ownership might make an investment at an opportune time.
