With only a few games left to play on the schedule, seeding position is more crucial than ever. As per the current standings

1

Y - CHICAGO CEN 40 31 5 4 66 25 132 85 +47 15-3-2 16-2-2 6-4 7-2-1 WON 4 2

X - ANAHEIM PAC 41 27 9 5 59 21 124 103 +21 16-6-0 11-3-5 6-3 5-4-1 LOST 1 3

* - VANCOUVER NW 41 23 12 6 52 19 112 100 +12 13-5-3 10-7-3 4-5 7-3-0 LOST 1 4

LOS ANGELES PAC 41 23 14 4 50 21 118 103 +15 15-4-1 8-10-3 2-3 6-2-2 WON 1 5

SAN JOSE PAC 41 21 13 7 49 14 102 102 E 14-1-5 7-12-2 7-4 7-2-1 LOST 1 6

ST. LOUIS CEN 40 23 15 2 48 20 110 102 +8 9-7-1 14-8-1 3-1 6-4-0 LOST 1 7

MINNESOTA NW 41 22 16 3 47 18 105 103 +2 13-6-2 9-10-1 4-2 3-6-1 OT 1 8

DALLAS PAC 41 21 17 3 45 19 116 121 -5 10-9-2 11-8-1 2-1 6-4-0 WON 5

Clearly the bottom rungs are looking super tight with the additional floater teams with equal chance to slide into 8:

DETROIT CEN 41 19 15 7 45 17 103 107 -4 10-7-4 9-8-3 2-4 4-4-2 OT 2 10

COLUMBUS CEN 42 19 16 7 45 14 102 107 -5 13-5-5 6-11-2 5-4 6-3-1 WON 3 11

PHOENIX PAC 41 18 16 7 43 15 110 110 E 13-7-1 5-9-6 3-4 5-2-3 OT 1

However, if we are to assume that the top three remain - we can foresee the path and potential opponents for the upcoming playoffs.

Note: Although in the playoffs anything can happen, I am just postulating more or so likely scenarios. Given the standing stay relatively stagnant heading forward.

  • (1) Chicago vs 8 (Most likely Dallas, Detroit, Columbus, Phoenix, or even Minny) = Chicago has the ability to dispatch any of those guys and will likely be the winner

  • (2) Anaheim Vs (7) Minnesota /STL - (Vs Minnesota they are 3-0, and STL 2-1)It is not secret they are a good team this year and have the ability to make it through the first round.

  • (3)Our Beloved Canucks Vs (6) STL/SJS (Vs STL they are 1-0-1, and SJS 0-2-1) Statiscally speaking STL would be the better option but winning first round will really set the bar for what they are capable of.

  • (4)Los Angeles vs (5) SJS/STL (Vs SJS 1-1-0, Vs STL 3-0) Versus SJS I think I would give the sharks the upper-hand based on their play this year but I could see them move past STL.

So if we were to hypothetically predict first round winners:

Chicago, Anaheim, Canucks obviously, SJS sharks

Thus we are left with CHI Vs SJS / and Anaheim Vs Canucks

  • CHI VS SJS (CHI has taken the Sharks 3-0)- They are obviously a good team - CHI goes through but it'll be a tough series for both.

  • Van Vs ANAHEIM ( They beat us out 1 game 7-3 blowout ) This is another grueling series - hard to predict, but Ducks will take us too lightly and we get a few quick wins and grab the series in 6-7 (fingers crossed)

Western conference Finals:

Chicago Vs Van (1-0-1) SO wins for both teams. enough said - this is considering we are on top of our game and make it this far, but we ought to .

What are your guys predictions? this is all hypothetical and in fun of course, the proverbial "what IF" situation, so don't get all wound up on how improbable all of the scenarios are. Lets hear some debate/discussion!
