Boston at the quarter mark of the season (almost...)

After a horribly slow start, Boston is back on track going 7-1-2 in their last 10 climbing from the basement of the NE to second.

Up front and leading the way again is Anze Kopitar with 23 points in 19 games while only taking one minor penalty. Nathan Horton has, for some reason decided to drop the gloves a lot more leading the team in PIM's by a wide margin while only scoring 4 goals thus far. David Krejci has picked up the scoring role with 9 goals so far he's on pace for 40 this year. Other notable forwards include recent pick up Niederreiter who is struggling to find his role, scoring only 3 points so far and Matt Read who started slow, but has picked it up and is on pace to have his strongest season so far.

On the back end, it has been a struggle. With Chara being injured and only dressing for 7 games, the pairings have been changing to varying degrees of success. After his Calder winning season, Hamilton is on pace to beat his point total by a wide margin although he already has more PIM's this year than all of last. Philip Larsen has been a good news story picking up 7 points in the first 19 games leading all D-men in points. Rookie Denis Bodrov, a recent signing has also stepped in nicely with 2 assists in 5 games and a +4.

In net Rask has recovered from his slow start posting two shut outs this year. Subban has played only 2 games but has a GAA fo 1.00 so he will be seeing some more ice time in the very near future.

On the farm, Jordan Caron is making a strong case to come back up to the big leagues scoring 12 goals in 12 games. Della Rovere leads all forwards with 16 points while D-man Matt Irwin leads with 7 points on the back end. Another recent signing, Kirill Lyamin has 7 points in 13 games on the back end.

We will see how Boston and Providence are doing at the halfway mark of the season, if the trend continues it is unlikely any significant changes will take place. If, however the team returns to its early season form, big changes will be coming. With contracts for half the pro team and nearly all the farm team coming up at the end of the year, this season will be make or break for many players.

It looks like a deal for Yakupov and Teravainen may be complete. For now, these two are off the market. I still got guys like.
