Vancouver Sun Article - 3 skating?

This article from The Vancouver Sun says that "3 of the 10 called up will skate at 8 a.m. each morning". Those 3 are Jordan Schroeder, Brendan Gaunce, and Nicklas Jensen. Does that mean they will practice with the full team, and hopefully potentially slide into the lineup should the oppurtunity arise in the playoffs?

If I'm not mistaken these three are the most 'NHL ready' so maybe they will get some time with the team in case of injury. IF they really were ready to draw into the line-up surely they would have seem more NHL time in the regular season?

Actually, it says that all 10 will skate at 8 a.m. each day. They just pointed out that 3 were first round picks.

Three of the 10 — Jordan Schroeder, Nicklas Jensen and Brendan Gaunce — are first-round picks and the group, which also includes previous call-ups Derek Joslin and Joe Cannata, will skate at 8 a.m. each morning.

Oh, grammar. Im sorry, should have seen that. I thought "the group" was referring to just the 3 with the big group. Another comment, does anyone see vandermeer stepping in? He would be an upgrade over barker..

Schroeder should definitely see some time with the team.

Jensen could get a role on the fourth line too. He's got the size and skating ability, and his defensive game has improved alot this season.

I don't agree with people that say it would be a waste to have him on the fourth line. Our best players started out on the fourth line as young rookies (Naslund, Burrows, Kesler, Bertuzzi). And there's no way he can't bring more than Ebbett or Weise. Who knows he may even score the odd goal. He does have experience producing on the third and fourth line after playing that role in the SEL for some time.

Jensen - Lapierre - Kassian - All 6'2" or bigger and over 200 pounds. This team needs some youth in their lineup. They've looked like a tired team the last little while.

Probably injury depth.

Ebbett could be a healthy scratch where he belongs, but we all know that's genie-level wishful thinking.

I think the dream scenario would be AV suddenly being reborn and we see him changing 3rd and 4th lines into checking or scoring lines as necessary with our depth wingers and centers. And instead of protecting one-goal leads, goes bald as his forehead starts shining gold as he utilizes the full versatility of our depth.

And when we win the cup he shows his true overemotional colors as he's the first person over the boards to commence Operation Hugs.

How is Jensen on the 4th line a good idea? You need your 4th line to crash and bang, wear down the opposition each shift. That role is pretty damn important in the Playoffs. Jensen is talented but he's a bloody marshmallow. How tall he is means nothing. It would make more sense to see somebody like Archibald on the 4th than Jensen because at least he can play that role. Neither of these kids should see time unless there are significant injuries.

This would be a good stratagy. If one of our core players have a lingering injury, or just get a sore ankle or something, have those extra players there to fill a space and give the slightly injured guy a game off. Keep our players healthy the whole playoffs.

The article says they all will skate each morning at 8 am, as a practice squad. It just pointed out that we have 3 firsts in that group.

I didn't know we signed Grenier, but that's awesome, another big body to do some damage in the future.

Canucks 4th line in a few years:

Blomstrand - Lain - Grenier

They're all big, can bang and dirt cheap.
