bishopshodan
Now that I have been back for 3 weeks I am feeling better than ever. I have banged the rust off and I'm not getting too sore the next day. I am also helping my nephew build a barn for my sister. It's physical work so after the gym I am still sweating the day away. Really enjoy focusing on one muscle group per day with cardio and core mixed in. I'm surprising myself, getting up at 5:30 is no big deal. I think it is that I am not allowing any negative self talk to happen. My internal dialog is all positive. I'm the king of the world inside my head and nothing can stop me. 1 1
Tortorella's Rant
Getting my strength back I think. Slowly but surely. It's just as hard the second and third time around as it is the first.

Today is BP day but I will be targeting a 3X8 weight. Probably 150.

I consider that a massive win, seeing as though a year and a half ago, I doubt I could even bench the 45lb bar. 1

Building my way back up after serious steps back thanks to temporary goal changes and then COVID I'm starting to get an idea of what my goal is, after so long. When I first started, just wanted to keep active, didn't care what the end result was. Now though, definitely getting an idea of what I need to start focusing on. Went from 194lbs to 173lbs, and now I'm back up to 190lbs. Getting quite a bit of muscle in while bulking, so should probabky look at leaning up, watching the diet. That's a whole new issue, mainly because I'm nearing middle age, and I really don't care.
BoKnows
Sappy/cheesy songs are underrated for lifting. Was having a $&!#ty workout then Breakeven came on. Gave me a much needed boost lol

Those crossfit pull ups look like long term injury written all over them. I like the idea of crossfit for certain things, but not for others when bad form comes into play and you risk long term injury. There's nothing wrong with kipping pull-ups. In fact, they can be great for building mobility in your shoulders. The key, like any exercise, is that you need to work your way up and use proper technique. If you watch the higher end crossfit athletes do them, it's an extremely controlled motion. They aren't just flailing on the bar.
Tortorella's Rant
&^@#ing gym absolutely packed today. What the hell is wrong with people. Nobody there all week then suddenly today it's literally flowing out the doors people have to wait in their car. The gym can't pick and choose but people who occupy the main floor doing cardio or girl weight really need to get lost because those spots are completely wasted for people who need the main floor.

I'm very fortunate to live in a large town, small city. I can book my time at the gym, and there is NEVER a lineup, and we have a very large, nice gym. But there is never more than 10 people there at a time, with a lot of room to spare. Been this way since June 1st, when it reopened. My brother, on the other hand, lives in the city, and it doesn't matter what time he goes (he just started up again). Whether he goes at 6 in the morning, or 6 at night, he has to wait outside for at least half an hour.
Junkyard Dog
My gym has no bookings. Just a 50 person limit. There's only ever around 15-30 person at a time. It closes at 11 on weekdays so I usually go in later when there's less people. You have to bring your own towel and wipe off everything you use before and after use. That includes lockers and cubbies. The changeroom is closed and you have to come in already ready to go. I usually work out with a small little bottle of hand sanitizer that fits in my pocket and use it when I switch workouts.
