Realistic Luongo Destinations

Recommended Posts

People need to remember a few things, takes 2 to trade, and Luongo controls the trade.

I don't think FLA will trade for him, they would have already, but I hope Lu doesn't waive to go there because he will not win there.

If Lu wants to win the teams that would need him are Flyers, Lightning, Pens, or NYI maybe.

Pens, depending on how their season ends, if they get out early I could see them making a deal. Lightning is a good choice, they make the playoffs with a good goalie, they are too good up front to not be in the playoffs. Flyers is where I want him. They seem like the only team that is willing to throw money around and they will buy out Bryz, and want a package deal for Lu and a defenseman. Again, Flyers are built for the playoffs, too stacked up front, they are in the playoffs if they have a solid goalie and a contender. NYI, don't think they want the caphit.

New Jersey: Two goalies 35+, time to look at the post-Brodeur era. Luongo would be a great guy for them to have. Unless brodeur retires they wont be get getting a goalie.

New York Islanders: No goalies contracted for next year. Thomas not going to sign, Nabokov is meh and Poulin is too young. Team is beginning to look OK, Lou would be a step in the right direction.

Philadelphia: Bryzgalov is Bryzgalov, improvement needed badly. Holmgren stated flyers wont buy out Bryz this year. So why would we?

Pittsburgh: Fleury is the reason the Penguins aren't a dynasty, pure and simple.

Toronto: Up and coming (unfortuantely), Lou would provide the top class goaltending that they crave.

Florida: Only one inexperienced goalie contracted for next season. Lou wants to go to Florida.

Tampa Bay: Average goaltending, with some stellar forwards. Ben Bishop the just traded for, also have Vasilevskiy (the best prospect goalie not in the NHL

Washington: Neuvirth is nothing special. You mean Holtby right? He's been everything they need in a goalie and at a cheap cap hit.

Detroit: Howard is nothing special. Just signed a 5.3 extension 5 years

Calgary: With Kiprusoff possibly gone, they're looking for a goalie.

Edmonton: Have a lot of the pieces to be a good team, but a goalie is not one of them.

Minnesota: Depending on how you rate Harding. Again you mean Backstrom?

Do you watch hockey?

I'm sorry that was rude but if you don't know anything about the other team including who their starting goalie is, it's pretty hard to have a discussion about where or not they need Luongo.

Lu for Stastny? Albatross contract trade-off.

Stastny is good for 20 goals, and is decent in faceoffs ~53%. He plays on the PP. $6.6 mill cap-hit for one more year. Upgrade on Roy in all fronts.

Would Lu waive to go to the Avs? Probably not.
