Heretic
Ndp = More social spending, more support for labour unions, higher taxes for the rich, corporations and financial institutions and pork-barrel projects. If you're in a union or are part of the lower-class workforce, you should vote Ndp. Liberal = Status quo. Non-mandated hst fail. Easier time for the well-off and corporations. 'Apparently' a better economy (debatable). Lower taxes. If you make lots of money you should vote Liberal. Conservative = Your typical reform platform. Rightish. If you think what the US southern states do politically is great, you should vote Conservative. Green = Environmentalist. If you are a pot-smoking hippie, vote Green. ronthecivil
Looks like the NDP are going to sweep Burnaby. Even MP Peter Julian was out at Patterson Skytrain station supporting the campaign. Just trying to watch the Red Wings vs. Ducks and all I see is Dix's head swinging around on a NWSE axis. Liberal attack ads everywhere.
aGENT
LOL - that was well said - plus 1! All it needs is some caricatures of the party leaders.

Dellins
cause all the children in our schools are few. I can`t support the Liberials largely due to what they have done to BC`s Education system, including rising class sizes and classes in which special needs children who can`t even go the bathroom without help and put into a classroom with 30 other children and one teacher with no education assistant. Forgot about the teacher, how is this fair to the Kids. Clark thinks so lowly of the education system that her gov`t is responsible for that her own children go to private school. To me that`s pretty telling.

inane
Are you suggesting Clark remove her kids from the private school (and all their friends at the private school) into the public system just to make a political statement?
Common sense
Seems like not, rather if she believed in the public system her kids would be in it. Putting bold in is fun!
inane
Maybe...just maybe her kids had some say in where they want to be educated. Langdon Alder, much like you, made some pretty big leaps in logic by failing to see beyond the politicization of this non-move. I don't see why schoolchildren have to uproot their education, and go away from their friends, clubs, and school communities, and start all over in new and unfamiliar territory just because mom's running for office. Common sense
I admit I'm jumping into this conversation, I don't know about a move..? My point is simply it's difficult to stand their and say you're pro-public education when you have your kids in private school.

inane
But to remove her kids from the school that they have attended for some time, along with their school friends, extracurriculars, and community, and to start over anew at a new school...all this to make a political statement? Why should this become her kids' battles when it's not her kids that get elected to Victoria?

Wetcoaster
The rate of advance voting has risen markedly this election. Advanced poll numbers are up 25% across BC suggest another consecutive record-setting advanced voting year since the 1996 general provincial election. A Simon Fraser University expert speculates this year's increases might be due to more people getting involved as they observe the tightening race between the NDP and the Liberals. "So that's the kind of thing that will certainly stimulate some activity in the voting booth," Lindsey Meredith said Sunday. "People think it's a slam dunk, it's over... I think maybe things are a little hotter this time around." Elections BC spokesman Don Main said 2009 had been the last record-setting year for advanced voting - accounting for 17.57% of the overall ballots. "But 2009, we had the lowest turnout we've ever had. We had 51%," he said, warning there's no evidence higher advanced voting numbers had any impact on final figures. The largest increase in early numbers for the Lower Mainland goes to Surrey-Cloverdale, which saw a 91.98% increase on the first three days of advanced voting. Vancouver, meanwhile, was the site of seven ridings where voter turnout increased by more than 40%. Numbers for the fourth day, Saturday, won't be published until later Monday, Main said. Only two Metro Vancouver ridings, Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows (-1.04%) and Delta North (-4.47%), saw decreases in turnout. http://www.sunnewsnetwork.ca/sunnews/battlegroundbc/archives/2013/05/20130513-073410.html
