Ya it's wierd and why keep him aroound for 4 yrears? wtf cutbait already

BAllard woulda bee worth 1 win this year v sj, he does what it takes.

Is managment shunning hard play. Bertuzzi/Cooke/Torres/Ballard? C'mon, guys are watching out whenBballs is on the ice. You need that to open up space it's not friggin chess board. Jovo used to make all kinds of mistakes out there but there was ying to the yang.

Ballard just isn't that good. He's not very strong on opposing forwards. I've rarely seen him rush te pck which is what people claim he was brought in for. Clearly he's had success under different systems but it just didn't work out for him here. His play this season was vastly overrated on these boards. He was a liability.

And what exactly are those concrete examples of TOMapleLaughs? Your paranoid schizophrenia disorder? I mean what can you possibly think that all adds up to? I am not crazy so I can honestly not say and you don't even bother to allude to anything, you just list a bunch of events and don't even attempt to draw a connection between them other than they can all be listed in your deluded ramblings. Pro tip bro: turn off the computer and go outside and get a life, being a shut in with an internet connection is not good for your mental state lol

Ballard shows a lack of coordination between MG and AV.

MG paid a riduculous price for Ballard -- a first round pick AND a former first round pick who was about to become a 30-goal scorer when all Florida was doing was dumping a salary. One of the worst moves a Canuck GM has ever made.

However, Ballard did have an upside. He was an excellent skater and liked to carry the puck. MG liked the fact that he had been healthy for his whole careers and he had a positive plus-minus on a weak team. And he was known for throwing some tough hip checks.

But in Vancouver AV slotted him into a third pairing role -- a low risk guy who would be physical in his own end. This neutralized Ballard's biggest strengths -- skating and puck carrying. It also highlighted his weaknesses --he is not that big and gets pushed around by big forwards.

Given what AV wanted from a third pairng guy, Rome and Alberts were both better fits. For Ballard to be useful the Canucks would have needed to play a different system.

High risk/high reward. The reason a guy like Rome or Alberts was getting into the lineup ahead of him was because they were lower risk, even if the return wasn't as good as Ballard is at his best. If he was here at $2M, it obviously wouldn't be as big of a deal but he was acquired to be a top 4 guy before we signed Hamhuis. Just a trade that didn't turn out, and probably a casualty of the cap going down which sucks because he seems to love it here.

I just get the feeling that there is some truth out there to explain how he has been treated by the coaching staff that the media is too classy to report, like he gave Vigneault's wife a cleveland steamer or something. Do the other players like him? He says he and Vigneault get along but is that really true? I guess he just kind of sucks but I wonder if there is more to the story, does anyone know any dirty rumours?
