My proposal starts with the GM

Recommended Posts

Ok so reading the Province this morning and after reading how if we trade Edler we could set off a ripple effect for future hometown discount attempts. Gots me to thinkin....

Fire Gillis and hire a new GM that tells all concerned "Ok.... Yes there is alot of pinky swear promises and bum slaps, but those deals went out the door with the last guy."

Next is to get this team back to a respectable level in the eyes of refs and league officials. Get rid of all of the divers and whiners.... Maybe Kesler is exempt

Start cracking the core and developing a new core but dont just rid ourselves of the old until the new is brought up to speed.

Rid ourselves of the 15+ mil of wasted cap money.

Make our team bigger, stronger and have speed and skill.

My trade proposals are this

St. Louis seems to always have Cam Stewart in trade rumours.... they need a solid netminder to support their new look defence..... PRESTO!!!!

Plus I am sure that Luongo would be at the top of Hitch's list anyway.

Luongo for Stewart, straight up will do. He is only still 25/26, has size, can score, loves gettin dirty, and much more talent and affordable than Clarkson. Stewart with the Sedins is easily a 35-35 guy....maybe more

Next package Edler and our 1st and maybe more to Philly for both Schenn's. We all know what they bring. Heart, youth, a potential future Selke guy and a great RH dman that has ooodles more potential. Edler with our 1st.... Will surely catch Holmgrens eye.

Package Bieksa and either Hansen or Burrows to Toronto for ...yes.... Phanuef

Bieksa goes simply just for poppin off and whining to the media.... Was waiting for a tear to come rollin down his cheek.... Bet he got a big hug after. Ive run out of taste for him anyways and Hansen drives me nuts everytime he gets a breakaway and either misses the net or the netminder already knows how he is going to shoot. Rumour has it Nonis wants Phanuef gone and maybe Bieksa and Hansen can change their fortunes in Toronto.

For a free agent signing, grab Gordon as his faceoff skills will surely be used

Sign Torres... I shutter to think why we let him go in the first place....especially when we ended up trying to re-aquire him the following year.

My line-up is this:

D.Sedin(6.1) H.Sedin(6.2) Stewart(3)=15.2

B.Schenn(3.1) Kesler(5) Kassian(.85)=8.95

Higgins(2.5) Gaunce(1.05) Jensen(.85)=4.4

Torres(2) Gordon(1.5) Chipchura(.75)=4.25

Weise(.65)

Garrison(4.6) L. Schenn(3.6)=8.2

Phanuef(6.5) Tanev(3)=9.5

Hamhuis(4.5) Corrodo(.6)=5.1

Schneider(4)

????(1)

Grand total of $61.25 mil

Still a few bucks to shore up bottom 6/7 D

Lots of interchangable parts

B.Schenn, Gaunce, Gordon can all move aroumd at various center positions

B.Schenn, Higgins, Gaunce can all move around various Lw positions all depending on game circumstances

Sedins being the only real grey beards of the forwards

Defence is balanced with respectable hand positions, scoring, puck movement, crease clearing and most important... Age, with Hamhuis being the oldest at a modest 30.

If you dont like Phanuef, he is a free agent at years end, but there are reasons even Carlyle still plays him for 25+ mins/game.

Have the GM explain to Weise that he is a piano mover. All this press talk of him wanting to "show he is more than a grunt" is about as stupid as tht elf on Rudolph trying to say he wants to be a dentist. If not then pick up Chipchura to show Weise how its done.... as Weise is up in the pressbox

If Stewart works out, sign him to longer term at 5mil/yr

Sooooo.... Whaddya all think?

Last I checked TO is doing better the Van, managing to hang with a much stronger team then San Jose. So why do they replace their captain with a whiner who plays bad hockey on a good day and anspeedy Dane with no hands. He's like Lombardi, fast eneoughand gets enough chances that he should score 60 goals a year but he has hands of stone. How does this help Toronto?

Here's what I think,

The Sedins are now 2nd liners

Kesler and Gaunce are both wingers

Torres is better than Kasian and probably does not sign here to play 4th offwing

If Gaunce and or Gordon (do you mean Andrew who was unspectacular for us or a different Gordon?) don't pan out we are weaker down the middle than we were this year. Big Big gamble!

3 rookie forward? and Kaassian

I do like your defence though.

overall you need a 1st, 3rd and 4th line C

Really poorly thought out. Luongo for Stewart? Halak, Elliott and Jake Allen say hi. Sign Stewart for just $3 million? Also not happening. Bieksa and Hansen for Phaneuf? Leafs aren't trading Phaneuf and we won't trade Juice and either Burrows or Hansen.

St. Louis has a interesting goalie situation right now. Elliot has been good but not good enough, Allen is also dealing with consistency issues and is questionable for a team in "win-now" mode, and Halak has been subpar and had a pretty good spat during the playoffs with Hitchcock.

The Blues GM has spoken publicly about looking at goaltending this offseason.
