Gudbranson-TSN suggests as Trade Bait

Recommended Posts

Personally I believe Luongo would be a better goalie leaving Vancouver. MG and AV have messed it all up for him here. No way he stays. As for going to Florida, I hope they find an offer someplace else because we need a better trading partner. Besides getting Luongo from Florida in the first place who else have we got from them that has helped us?

Not that it would ever happen but I see Edmonton and Colorado needing a better proven goalie more than Florida right now. Mactavish wants to prove himself so who knows. Remember what happened for Roy when he went to Colorado. Imagine Luongo to Edmonton. I think Edmonton has far more to offer.

Oh man, that's bad. When you're talking about the safety of the players, and you can't even fix your own time clock. that's ridiculous.

Does Bettman honestly think this team can sustain itself there? How many years are you going to keep this floundering franchise alive?

And yea, if they're in that much financial trouble, there's no way they take Luongo unless we take a boatload of cash back. Which we can't afford to do because we've got our own cap problems to deal with.

^ really not sure FLA would go for that, they are rebuilding and have the 2nd overall pick with what could potentially be a game breaking forward and a guy who could (if possible) put asses in seats in Florida.

I could see something along these lines:

Luongo

Prospect

retain portion of Luongo contract

for

Gudbranson

2nd or 3rd

if not retaining some of Luongos salary then I could see a cap dump coming back

Personally if Edler is moving MG would be smart to really target Philly as they need Dmen in the worst possible way & have a few young forwards which could make a good hockey deal for both teams.

Bjugstad is pretty highly regarded as a prospect; Goodbranson was even more highly touted and has 2 years NHL under his belt.

Considering contract value's; Edler and Lou is probably the opposite, not attractive enough?

I believe in using Edler to help dissolve our cap dilemna with Lou. Together they are $8.9 mill off this years cap, plus flushing Ballard is $13.2. $15.7 with Malhotra & $17.8 with Raymond in cap relief. It will leave us with money to spend. I'd be thrilled with one exciting young player, but a truly exciting one considering we're giving up two guys with all star credentials. Then spend the roughly $4 mill we have left after Tanev gets a small raise and we fill in our roster with replacements or returnee's for guys such as Weise, Raymond, Malhotra etc.

Edler can get far far more
