FIRE MIKE GILLIS IMMEDIATELY

GM Fantasy Guru

Hey Canuck Nation,

Take a look at all of Gillis's trades over the 5 years and they are absolutely horrendous. Take a look at the contract given to Bobby Lou and it has been a terrible mistake. Take a look at our drafting over the last 5 years and it is brutal.

Gillis took over the team that was created by Burke and Nonis. He re-signed the core group giving them "hometown" discounts, and also giving every one of them no trade clauses as if they were candy. Exactly what is the signature move that Gillis has made as the GM of this team? Signing Marco Sturm? Re-signing Mason Raymond? Trading our top young center Hodgson for a winger Kassian?

I think 5 years is long enough. I am tired of hearing about sleep doctors, yoga ideas, nutritionists, etc. We need a GM that is not afraid of being the leader of this team that we need. Remember Gillis ahs absolutely no experience being a GM before this gig. He was a players agent.

Another thing I have noticed in Vancouver this year is that there is a lack of passion amongst the fans concerning our team. I think the fact that we have the same core, the same GM, the same coach, the same sleep doctor has made this team stale. For the first time in years, there were actually tickets available for the first round, which should be a very discouraging sign to the owners of this hockey team. I will be very interested to see how many seats are empty for next year. Without a significant change to this team, I think the fan's will have their say, choosing to do other things with their hard earned money. And please remember, it was a decade ago where we had 10,000-11,000 fans at games, so, don't think it can happen again.

Also, with a waning interest/passion for this team, I find it astonishing that the Canuck ownership would increase ticket prices for next year by 3-5%. Do they actually think that the Canuck suckers will pay anything for these tickets? Brutal.

Just a reminder that Burke and Nonis also had their fair share of horrendous mistakes. But they never brought any significant help for their core nor had any significant playoff success.

Gillis has been great, overall. But now he needs to make some significant changes to the lineup. imho we need to give plenty more time if he wants to stay.

I don't give a crap about division titles, President trophies, etc. I only care about winning 1 Stanley Cup before I die. When you win one Cup, everything is different.

And I don't care about the mistakes of the last management regime, I am speaking about Gillis only. We can accept mediocrity, settling on division titles, or we can demand change, with a GM that knows what he is doing. We need someone who can draft players, and someone who can make a decent trade. Thats all i have to say...
