Wtf are people upset about? Just cuz its vs team Canada?

I'm 100% vancouverian if that makes sense. Edler showing a mean streak is good. Sorry staal got hurt but its hockey... not an office job.

And there's no suspension in the NHL so I can't believe how people are bitching about this

Be happy he's showing some emotion.

That was a dirty hit, intentional or not. He could easily have avoided him or taken him out with a clean check, he would be suspended in the NHL for sure. Hope Staal is ok, looked painful and we need him in the lineup.

Edler! :sadno:

I don't think he was deliberately going knee to knee, as Staal is the one who had his leg out and Edler only moved his legs closer together, not further out. As a result, he actually hit him I think just below the knee. But, Staal was in that position before Edler came in for the hit and he should have avoided it knowing that he would end up hitting him knee-on-knee. It was a dumb, reckless move on Elder's part and deserving of a suspension.

And Edler used to be such an amazing Dman. :picard:

I watched it a few times....avoidable, yeah....intentional, naah. He ain't Ulf Samuelsson.

As for Edler, he just needs a new coach, whether with the Canucks or not time will tell. Too much ability not to become a premier player.

Edler's action is nothing that will remotely increase respect or appreciation for him, not from me. A play like that only makes me lose respect and appreciation for Edler, coming from a Canucks fan since the early 1980's.

With all due respect, clearly you've never received a knee-on-knee hit on the ice. I have and I had to be carried from the ice to the car and then into the emergency room and was on crutches for two weeks and buggered knee to this day. And I can tell you that no matter who does it, it is a vicious, dirty play that can cripple someone for life and it has nothing to do with a 'mean streak'. It has everything to do with a cheap streak. Ask Cam Neely.
