What are you stressed about?

for me, it looks like my workload is going to shrink and the job future is uncertain. we'll see what happens. a couple of coworkers already put in their applications for masters programs to help ensure continued employment but i'm meh on that. should I do the same thing?! go into more debt to try to cling to a job that sucks the life out of me and may not want me after this coming year?

is 2 years is a sufficient effort into putting into a new career?

would it be flaky to try yet another career?

i just want to be... a mechanic.. or a travel photographer.. a tour guide? a singer.. a CIISP.. inherently rich? yeah, that's it.

anyhoo, what are you stressed about? i'll take a break from my issues and immerse myself in yours for a bit.

there's no time to be stressed. i have my ways to get by. i have a different thought process. i can get stressed in the moment, but i never let it linger

i wouldn't even look at it as "looking for a career." work is work. don't have to have a fancy title for it. whatever skill you have, you just go for it, man. all you do is sell yourself to someone who will potentially sign your pay cheque. hear so many people say, "dude my job sucks" and i'm like, well of course, it's a job. that's why i have ahobby and other things to get my mind off of work. i don't think about the future because that only makes you more stressed. i live day-to-day, right here, right now. occasionally, i'll look back at my life and think "yeah i'm improving, but i can do better"

I can feel your stress on the job front... I'm in university, been looking for a part-time job for a while so I can help fund my education and look towards sustaining myself once my degree's finished. But the whole process has me very worried, because I'm well aware that Bachelor's degrees on their own don't lead to much, and that it might be all for nothing - or at least, that I'll graduate and be no better off than I am now.

Anyway, I went for a job interview today. Interviewer said he'd get back to me within a week, so until then I just have to sit and wait... I'm simultaneously hopeful and very nervous.

Debt.

debt debt debt. and then the BOC starts rising interest rates.. ahhhhh

Didn't get accepted for housing since I'm a second year student and Uvic doesn't promise housing after first year, have to try and find an apartment or basement to rent near the school. It's going to suck to try and find one.

is rent expensive near campus?

Not horribly, but just barely out of my price range which makes it feel even worse. I'm going to be saving all I can over the summer to hopefully be able to afford a bachelor apartment or I'll end up renting a room in someones house or something.

well right now, my credit is pretty bad, i'm behind on some of my bills, but i'm grinding it down. the last thing you want to do is panic about being in debt. once you start to panic about that, you're pretty much in debt for the rest of your life

thanks, i'm crossing my fingers for you on the job front, stonecold. it won't be all for nothing. it might not turn out how you think it would, but it won't be all for nothing..

you might have to postpone getting that lift for your jeep. or maybe you could share a house/2/3 bedroom, perhaps with a nice girl?

ya. credit cards are the worst for interest. it's hard to grind that kinda debt down.
