ken kaniff
**If you disagree with some trades, please tell me what you would dont make them more fair I want to get Jeff Skinner from Carolina. he is young, very talented and can be the top 6 forward we need to put up goals. Unfortunately he will probably have quite a heft price tag, but since we are shaking things up people are expendable and arent off limits. I was thinking along the lines of this to get him Van: LW Jeff Skinner, 2013 3rd round draft pick Car: D Alex Edler, C Jordan Schroeder and a 2014 2nd round draft pick -Carolina is weak on defense. Edler gives them a definite #1 defenseman. Edler isnt bad, hes a great player and the 2nd best defender on our team, to all the people saying he doesnt hold that much value since we want to trade him; are you nuts? the reason we want to trade him is because defense isnt our problem its our offense. Edler can fetch us a legit top 6 forward to boost our offense and our defense would still be decent without him. So would this be enough to get him out of Carolina, or would we have to add more? i think this buy itself is good enough to get him. now for the other: Trade Luongo Van: C Frans Nielsen, LW Matt Martin, and a 2013 2nd round draft pick NYI: G Roberto Luongo, and a 2013 3rd round draft pick(VAN) Luongo=Nielsen, 2nd 3rd=Martin NYI would have beaten PIttsbugh if their goaltending was better. Nabokov's style doesnt cut it in todays NHL. Luongo can anchor their defense, and take the pressure off their sub par defense. They dont loose much in terms of value. Neilsen can be replaces by Nelson, Cizickas or Strome and Martin is nothing more than a great 4th liner. Improving their goaltending would give them a big boost and possibly make them an underdog team that can upset some higher seed teams. We fill our need for a 3rd line center and get a 2nd round pick back in this draft. Van: D Patrick Wiercioch (rfa) Ott: LW David Booth, 2013 3rd round draft pick(CAR) Wiercioch is a good young defenseman who can grow into a bottom 4 guy. he is big and can move the puck well. Booth gives them added offense and can fit into their top 6 well. Booth-Turris-Silfverberg would be a very balanced line, and Booth finally gets a set up man so he can put up 25+ goals again. I dont know if this would cut it but im not willing to add much more. maybe a prospect but not anything significant Van: D Mark Fayne NJD: 2014 3rd round draft pick, D Yann Sauve -Fayne is a good big bodied defenseman who can hit hard. he's not all that high up on the Devils depth chart but can be a bottom 4 guy for us. the devils get a 3rd rounder next year and a prospect who should be able to fill in as a depth guy in the next year or two given the chance. Signings D Chris Tanev 3 years @ 2mill per year D Patrick Wiercioch 2 years @ 1.5mill per D Andrew Alberts 2 years @ 900 000per- good depth defenseman C Maxim Lapierre 3 years @ 1.25mill per-if he cuts back on penalties hes a great 4th liner C Rob Klinkhammer 1 year @ 650 000-good on faceoffs and tough RW Dale Weise 2 years @ 675 000per RW Jeff Tambellini 2 years @ 700 000per - he was decent when he was here. better than Ebbett, he adds some scoring danger to the 4th line while being good defensively Buy-out or trade D Keith Ballard Draft C Kerby Rychel 24th overall Roster next season -yes i split up the Sedin's. they are too similar of players that get shut down far too easily in the playoffs. they need other dynamic players to play with, if it doesnt work out putting them back together is still an option -Hansen has improved every year and he put up more points than burrows playing on the 3rd line. i think he can step up and be a Samuelsson type player given a chance in the top 6. -Kassian needs more than a 4th line role to develop, he can round out his defensive game on the 3rd line with 2 great shutdown guys. -Nielsen can step up as a #2 center incase of injuries, Lappy as the 3rd line center and klinkhammer as the 4th -Hammer and Juice pairing was our best pairing over the last couple years, reunite them. -Garrison can play with Tanev over Fayne, both right handed shots -our defense gets bigger, but looses some offense. hopefully the forwards can make up for that FORWARDS Jeff Skinner ($5.725m) / Henrik Sedin ($6.100m) / Alexandre Burrows ($4.500m) Daniel Sedin ($6.100m) / Ryan Kesler ($5.000m) / Jannik Hansen ($1.350m) Chris Higgins ($2.500m) / Frans Nielsen ($2.750m) / Zack Kassian ($0.870m) Matt Martin ($1.000m) / Maxim Lapierre ($1.250m) / Jeff Tambellini ($0.700m) Rob Klinkhammer ($0.650m) / Dale Weise ($0.675m) DEFENSEMEN Dan Hamhuis ($4.500m) / Kevin Bieksa ($4.600m) Jason Garrison ($4.600m) / Chris Tanev ($2.000m) Patrick Wiercioch ($1.500m) / Mark Fayne ($1.300m) Andrew Alberts ($0.900m) / GOALTENDERS Cory Schneider ($4.000m) Eddie Lack ($0.750m) OTHER Buyout: Keith Ballard ($0.000m) ------ CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled with the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $62,820,000; BONUSES: $0 CAP SPACE (21-man roster): $1,480,

ken kaniff
This. And why would Carolina want to trade for Edler after what he did to Staal?
Disaronno
Would be an interesting moment the first time Edler steps into the locker room.

Wiznac
I love the Skinner - Edler trade !! makes sense they need a dman that can step into there blue line and be the top guy and Edler could and we need a goal scoring genius like Skinner and after the trade for J.Staal and the re-signing of Semin he could be expendable
22sedins33
I know this is anything but the main focus of your proposal but what appeals to you about Rychel? I've watched him play several times this year (a couple times live) and I can't find what is so attractive about this player. A lot of people are really high on him. Am I missing something?
