ButterBean
I just don't see us landing Eriksson. Dallas already looks thin up front and the only good top 6 players I can think of for them right now is Benn, Eriksson, Cole, and Whitney. If anything Dallas needs a top 6 center or winger. Their defense isn't great but it isn't bad either.
-Vintage Canuck-
Eriksson has a NTC though.
Angry Goose
They won't trade him unless Gillis gets canned. Trading a guy who just signed a 5 year contract before it goes into effect sends the message to other NHL players around the league that the Canucks organization has no respect for its players. NHL hockey is a professional buisness yeah, but Edler hasn't done anything wrong to warrant that kind of treatment. He is a good player and can no doubt still contribute. So unless Gillis is fired and a new GM is hired to over-haul what Gillis has done, then Edler is staying without a doubt. This isn't like NHL 13 where you treat the players like cattle. Monty
Absolutely do not see Eriksson getting traded. He is Dallas' top offensive player, would be foolish of them to let him go. I do agree though, and have all along, that Edler would fetch a huge return for the Canucks. Despite what Canucks fans think or say, Edler is a really good defenseman and is worth a lot on the open market. Ordinarily, I would say that Vancouver would be out of their mind to trade Edler. However, because the team is looking at an overhaul, the only moveable asset on defense that would land a top 6 forward and prospect is Edler. Not only because he doesn't have a NTC (yet), but because he would still yield a better return than either Bieksa, Hamhuis, or Garrison. Trust me, if in fact he is being shopped around, every GM in the league will be interested, as they should be. Who knows, maybe Nashville trades Weber for Edler and Ballard/Booth. Dogbyte
He is worth a heck of a lot more than Eriksson. Eriksson would be a great addition, but not at the expense of Edler. Edler needs to yield a mix of high end prospects, young players and/or a high pick. He's the best asset we could move (not counting a Kesler). With that being said, why would Carolina give up Skinner? He is a fan favourite there.

babych
Would anyone else support the idea of loading up by trading Edler and Schneider? IMO the packages we would get in return would make us contenders for the next 5+ years.

CanucksJay
If we could do something like a Couturier + Simmonds for Edler + picks, I would do it.
Canucks fan in chicago
You don't trade a player you just re-signed long term. Leaves a bad taste in potential free agent's mouths.

Angry Goose
Hockey is a business. If he didn't do enough to make himself valuable in the eyes of the organization, then he only has himself to blame. First round exits should be unacceptable to this team. No player on the roster should feel completely safe right now. As I see it, no one on the roster is untradeable. Monty
Rubbish. The Canucks have worked hard to develop a solid organization that respects its players. You don't throw a reputation you've worked hard to establish in the crapter by trading away a guy just before his contract starts, especially a guy who the Canucks showed faith in the first place by re-signing him. A move like that shows a serious lack of professionalism and maturity. Its something I'd expect from someone wet behind the ears. If the Canucks want to make a big move, they need to do something significant with Luongo. Getting something/anything for Ballard would be a strong move.
