CanuckLeaf
Obviously which conference you play in shouldn't be an excuse but if the Canucks were an Eastern conference team they would do so much better in the playoffs. Aside from Boston there isn't a single team in the east that can match up physically against teams like Sharks, Blues, Kings etc. The Eastern conference relies more on skill...I could see this team making multiple SC final appearances if they were up against east teams. Just skill alone doesn't work in the west, even the Hawks will be too banged up to do anything if they make it to the final this year (which I seriously doubt). TheRussianRocket.
True - the Eastern conference sucks compared to the West. In the East, there's 2-3 teams that will make the finals (Pitts, Bos, ?) but in the West, teams are so well rounded that throughout seeds 1-8, any team can make it, and when I say any, I mean any...that's how much better the West is compared to the East. apollo
The east is a B league plain and simple. Put lui in the east and he trashes brodeur for the vezina in 2007..
La Mauviette75
That's probably true, but it's management's job to create a team that will match up well in the playoffs vs teams in the western conference. It's not like they built the team in a vacuum. The Canucks match up well against their division, which is great, but now, if they want to succeed in the playoffs, they're going to have to match up well against the good teams in the west. Xbox
I do agree. (Other than the location of course). Every time my friends ask why the games are always low scoring, my reply is "That's western hockey for you". We would have a field day in the east, but we would also get scored on more as well. Apples
Run and gun systems in the east. We would score way more goals, but let in more too
oldnews
Was thinking at the end of the first round that three of the teams eliminated in the West - Anaheim, St. Louis and Vancouver are better than the top three teams in the East.
ilduce39
Good idea, maybe Gillis can trade the team to Rhode Island for a sail boat. Dibs first ride on the sail boat.
