J529
Eakins has history with Kesler and Burrows. Played with them in AHL 2003. Played with Kesler for 33 games and Burrows for 2 games. There's no compensatation under the new CBA.
MoneypuckOverlord
I don't want Tippet and his defensive boring style of hockey. Perhaps the Leafs are being cooperative for a Luongo deal in the future?
Plum
He was an AHL assistant from 1991-93, AHL head coach in 1993-94.

Relfk
Let me guess, you want Tortorella in here to whip our players into shape? Honestly that would be the worst move this organization could make. It would be the Keenan years all over again. We don't need Tortorella yelling at our players like their kids, and using the dog house treatment like AV did. We need a coach that knows how to get players to buy into systems, and create roles for them based on their strengths. Something I think Tippett is a master at. But we'll see if he's available. Plum
He coached the Springfield Indians in the AHL, and was an Assistant coach for St.John`s. He`s young. He`s just starting out his coaching career in the NHL and therefore will likely have the spark and the passion that a head coach needs. Like I said in the other thread, there`s a reason why most coaches win a cup early on in their careers while they`re in their late 40`s. The coach has gotta be just as passionate about the game as the players.
Relfk
Guy seems very knowledgable with prospects and how to develop them. Would be a very good guy to have with the AHL team but he could definately help Corrado, Gaunce, Jensen who will all probably be up on the Canucks. Look how Kadri turned out. Relfk
I really think Eakins is the guy. I think I'd rather have a duo of Tippet/Eakins. That'd be perfect. When Tippett's system gets old, Eakins can take over the head coaching job.
Undrafted
Leafs fans don't want him gone though. They're very high on him. Apparently he's a really great coach.
newgm
Might have to have a bidding war with the Rangers if they fire Tortorella over Tippett.

J529
Seriously, I know Tortorella won a cup with Tampa and I actually think he's a very good coach, but the guys personality sucks. It's hard to believe he got to the NHL with his bizarre confrontational attitude with the press. I mean, it's entertaining to a point but surely it gets distracting to a team over time. Undrafted
They're so many coaches that have won cups later in their coaching careers, I don't believe this passionate coaches while they are young it is unbelievable. I would take experienced coaches who know what they are doing and aren't at their first dance.
