OutTaGetMe
Just like to hear some thoughts of the community if the Canucks were to seriously mix things up and try to land young star players. Make a play for defense like Karlsson/ pietrangelo And try for a forward too stamkos / j staal It is 'far fetched' and there are clear issues restricting trades. Cap / both teams agreeing. Etc. but trying to keep it plausible and try to lean away from fantasy league talk The Canucks don't draft well in comparison to other teams. I think we are the bottem 10% in developing draft talent. And the team needs a shake up. Coaching will be different and hopefully better because some choices AV made ...who knows the logic in them. Gillis has eluded to the same core returning which is unfortunate because as I've mentioned we should shake things up. I've always viewed the team as twins kes and burr being our top 6. Then the rest of the forwards as 3/4liners who play up and down the roster. On average no weak points minus a full-er top 6. And our defense are lacking a top 2. We are full of 3/4 spot d. Once again comments on that? We all know the team needs to get younger and the examples I made of stamkos (doesn't have to be him but more the few players who are those qualities of young and league proven to be top/ elite players ). Make the trade of Lou / 2 1st round picks / elder and (roster player here, not tanev) to get one of these top guys. ^^ just an example of giving up many quality pieces and futures for a young proven player. As I've said before I don't feel we draft well so we are probably better off trying to trade for these players. Anyway I've rambled a bit and I don't think I've structured the post the best but the thoughts and some reasoning (hopefully not too illogical) are there. Thoughts ? The Magician
I don't want to go for picks unless it's a top 3. I'd rather trade for youngsters who have been in the NHL for 2-3 years.
c00kies
There aren't too many stars left in the mid 20s of the first round.
wallstreetamigo
The Canucks do not have enough quality players/prospects to get any of those guys (who are pretty much untradable anyway). They would have to gut the team to get one an start a rebuild around those guys. The Sedins and Kesler would definitely have to go in any of those trades as well. qwijibo
The kind of guys you're talking about dont get traded unless there are serious locker room issues (Jeff Carter) or contract issues (Nash). Teams build around guys like Karlsson and Stamkos. They don't trade them away for spare parts and picks

Merely
We can not just get players like Steven Stamkos, or even Staal, even if we had a chance, were not willing to give the assets we have away for them. Stamkos is taking it a bit to far btw.

Xbox
LOL! Trade for Karlsson, Pietrangelo, Stamkos? Why would those players be traded?
Bite me Burr
Don't sell us short. We have plenty offer in trade... We have biters, hair-pullers, face makers, yappers, divers, nice guys with a sprinkling of skill that all GMs crave. Once you get past the NTC and the NMC, that is. Oh, I guess we're kinda screwed that way. Never mind.

mecomaker54
Well... Stamkos has an 8 mil cap hit.... and he basically is untradable since we would have to give both the sedins and keslers left nut to get him, but Luongo for 1st round picks doesnt seem too far fetched, but I think Gillis would want at least a prospect and a 1st rounder, then again Reimer has proven that he is capable of being a starter so that could alter the deal, but could you imagine if the deal for Kadri and Bozak paid off in the beginning of the season?!?!?! holy crap that would have been sick
terrible.dee
The last bold move I remember us pulling aside from the Kassian/Hodgson trade was the Bert for Lu deal.
