PlayoffHockey
This history of throwing our enforcers under the bus needs to stop. I still have a real problem with how this organization abandoned Todd Bertuzzi for the retaliation on the Markus Naslund cheap shots. Bertuzzi should have stayed with the club and eventually gotten the C. We saw a glimpse of it again with Byron Bitz and others in the recent past (Bitz Lays a heavy hit, not even suspension worthy imo and gets disappeared) and mentioned below from poster IMM "But if you look at only Gillis' work your point is easily made Hordy traded for no-one O'Brien traded for no-one Rypien and Glass not re-signed Bitz, as you mentioned disappeared Torres not re-signed Volpatti waived for Pinnizotto For all Gillis' talk about being a "family" he has thrown more players under the bus than the last 5 Canuck GMs combined."" I wonder if this is why our guys seem to refuse to fight for each other much anymore. sure we got a few Sestito hugathons but is the Bertuzzi cloud the reason why a guy like Vandermeer didnt get a look even while the Ebbett and Barkers were getting played ? Is ownership scared ? is that why the fanbase is subjected to the kumbaya Canucks ? This team needs a couple bonafide skilled enforcers and with the green light and assurance that they wont get done like Bert and Bitz. The Hockey Gods don't like a team that throws its enforcers under the bus and neither do the fans.
logic
Bertuzzi should get the C because he broke someones neck(That could of killed him) Wow. That is all I have to say
ChuckNORRIS4Cup
Kinda ruined it when you said he should of got the C, after what happend to Moore.
PlayoffHockey
Not given the C for the accident but given the C as a gesture for going to war for your teammate. we have the Ikea clerk captain now that is too nice, too quite and that gets slapped around by every team we play. no respect. its painful. Bertuzzi in the lineup against Boston and we would have won that Stanley Cup.

lmm
While I agree with your point in general, Bert had a season here and it was probably best that he go. He also brought us Luongo so its not like he was tossed aside. But if you look at only Gillis' work your point is easily made Hordy traded for no-one O'Brien traded for no-one Rypien and Glass not re-signed Bitz, as you mentioned disappeared Torres not re-signed Volpatti waived for Pinnizotto For all Gillis' talk about being a "family" he has thrown more players under the bus than the last 5 Canuck GMs combined. I think Mike Gillis is afraid to have a player that he may have to stick up for at the league office. Brian Burke had his flaws but he went to the wall twice for Bertuzzi, once with ownership, and again with the league.

Westcoasting
Ok Bertuzzi was a shell of his former self after the Moore incident and he was traded for Lui... pretty tough to argue with that one.

Opmac
Tom Sestito will be back next season. A light heavyweight fighter built like a heavyweight (6'5" and 230 pounds) that can play.
Pears
Lucic is exactly what this team needs. a playoff built beast. i just wonder if we would throw him under the bus like we usually do
PlayoffHockey
First of all the Canucks in no way abandoned Bert, he was a fan favorite then and still is now. They traded him about 2 years after the incident for a star goalie. It was a sad day when he was traded but after that incident though he clearly needed a change of scenery with all the off ice distractions. The only reason why Ebbett/Barker was in the line-up is because of our pathetic depth at C and lots of injuries. I don't think ownership is scared, they just don't see the value in guys like Bitz/Vandy. They want guys like Bertuzzi/Backes because they can actually play hockey, but guys like that don't grow on trees and teams that have them won't trade them. PlayoffHockey
I think we have a good chance at getting Lucic when his current contract is up. He only re-signed with Boston for three years and he's a UFA in three year. One would think if he wanted to stay with the Bruins he would've signed long term like 5-7 years.
