What's with Detroit fans and Molsons?

Recommended Posts

So, I've heard/read the Detroit Red Wings's fanbase's 'national' beer is Molson.

I find this a little bizarre.

Am I out of touch, as I am now in Los Angeles, is this common knowledge or always been the case?

My apologies if this is in the wrong forum.

Detroit is a poor city, as mentioned above a lot of their fans drive over the bridge from Windsor and southern Ontario, as it is far easier to get tickets to see the Wings the drive up to TO and pay a million dollars to see a crappy team.

dominant beer in southern ontario is bud light. Canadian is absolutely garbage. I dont know why its the official beer of the wings but its not because of price. In windsor I pay 35 $ for 24 bottles. I cross the border and pay 12.50 (Before tax and deposit) for 24 CANS
