Scorevat
He was a good project, but didn't work out, he can't expect an NHL spot when hes not producing in the farm. Good luck to him

Lonny_Bohonos_14
He was a good prospect, just ran into injury troubles. I was hoping that he would stick around for 1 more year, especially with us having our own affiliate this year. Does anyone know if we retain his rights? Like, when his contract is up with Brynas - would he still technically be our RFA?
canuck2288
Yet another reminder of a Gillis led bust. Wasted draft pick on a heap of wasted draft picks. Maybe we should should start keeping track of the Gillis draft picks that have actually worked out in the last 5 years? I looked them up the other day, every pick in every round for the last 5 years....very very sad. Now I know its a team of people that evaluate talent and that some kids develop later or bloom early but the bottom line is the buck stops at the GM. His drafting record is horrible and that along with terrible trades has left the cupboard empty. It is sad to sit by and watch what is happening to MY team. Losing With Pride
I don't understand why we don't draft guys like Huberdeau, Toews, Kane, Crosby, Ryan, Malkin, Seguin, Hall, Nugent Hopkins etc. Oh wait... I know why... we finish at the top of the standings... I don't think people understand how hard it is to find a gem when you pick so late.

Ossi Vaananen
He's probably done with the organization. I think it was the Wolves that left him with a bad taste more than anything. You can visibly see the guys skill, he just never put it together with a NA game. SEL was probably the better career choice for him as well. I am starting to question the level of competition in the SEL. Yes, there have been some real gems like Karlsson come directly from there, but it's also the case where points just don't translate - even at the AHL level. Another example of this would be Jensen, who led rookie scoring only to come back to the AHL and get all of 4 points in 20+ games.

DeNiro
Tatar and Barrie were obvious picks at the time, but Gillis tried to be bold and go with a project player. To be fair though, it was Gradin that was really pushing for this guy. So much that he wanted Gillis to take him in the first round. Gradin usually knows what he's doing too. Unfortunately injury prevented Rodin from adding the muscle he needed to to compete at the North American level. This team has really gotta stop wasting 2nd round picks though, it's killing their player development right now.
n00bxQb
Your tunnel vision is hilarious. You don't think other teams have draft prospects that don't turn out? The success rate of drafted prospects is slim league wide. So your holding MG to a much higher standard than anyone else. You win some. You lose some. Suck it up. canuck2288
Prab Rai... enough said Roman Josi went in the 2nd round in 2008, and the Canucks picked Jan Sauve....point is you don't need the overall number one pick to find a jem. Please stop rationalizing Mike Gillis. He is a TERRIBLE UNQUALIFIED gm. He has does nothing to improve the team he INHERITED. He has to go and Anton Rodin is just another example. That was my initial point. I am a Canucks fan and just want them to to play well....now and in the future and I don't want that snake oil salesman Gillis leading MY team.
