bobby loocid dreamer
Quite a few moves here but I think it allows us to compete. To VAN: Matt Duchene, JS Giguere To COL: Cory Schneider Why? Varlamov is not the guy that Colorado can depend on. Schneider is. Roy will want that stud goaltender. Also, Patrick Roy has seen MacKinnon grow up and knows how good he is increasing the likelihood they draft him. With O'Reilly, Duchene and Stastny already playing centre, someone had to go. To VAN: Darren Helm, 2013 1st To DET: Ryan Kesler Why? Duchene makes Kesler expendable but we need a good 3rd line Centre. Helm fits that. Kesler is a Michigan boy who I think would waive his NTC to go home. With Kesler they have someone to take the reins as #1C when Datsyuk retires in a year (thats the rumor). To VAN: David Setoguchi, Charlie Coyle, 2013 3rd To MIN: Alex Edler Why? Cap constraints make keeping Edler very difficult. This move gives us more youth, better depth and gives Edler a chance to slide in and not be "the guy" he was expected to be in Vancouver. Minnesota likes it because after Suter and Gilbert (overrated), they are sparse in the back end. . . potential sure, but sparse currently. canuktravella
kesler can get us way more than a late first and a 3rd line c more like kesler for 1st overall or kesler or yandke and a first
bobby loocid dreamer
Apples, Duchene = Schneider. Giguere has zero trade value so trading him back is purely so they dont have to release/buy him out. Kesler >> Helm. A 1st in a deep draft has solid value though. We could also bundle Van 1st and Det 1st for a top 10 pick as well. I originally had Setoguchi + Coyle for Edler but felt CDC would rip me for giving Edler away. Who knew a 3rd round pick would be so valuble. Canuktravella, The day Kesler lands the 1st overall pick is the day I become GM of the Canucks. Pears
1) Duchene won't get traded although that is a very fair hockey deal 2) Kesler >> Helm 3) Meh 4) Why is Kassian a healthy scratch??
Dogbyte
I like what you're trying to do here. I know people don't want to trade Kesler but an even trade with Detroit who is moving to the East is not a bad idea at all. However, I think that getting Coyle out of Minny may be a lot harder than just giving them Edler. They already got Suter and Brodin and the rest, why the heck would they want a guy that can't play defence at the expense of giving up considerable front end talent. It would leave them very thin up front when that's their problem anyway. Also, Luongo is as good as gone, now Gillis is even confirming that.
