No way Colorado makes that deal. Sakic and Roy are pretty smart guys. Also doubt Dallas does that deal but I would love it if they did.

The pick ups are decent. We'd actually have something that resembled a fourth line on other NHL clubs.

That is an overpayment to Colorado. Again people please keep in mind it is a draft pick and no matter what the scouts say, 2 names crop up. Daigle and Stefan...Luongo and a 1st or Luongo and a prospect and a 1st but not a roster player as well. And please remember that if Colorado is giving that up they are asking for a defensive prospect meaning Tanev or Corrado. If this is your proposal it is looking more like: Luongo, Corrado/Tanev, First Round Pick and Rights to Raymond and Roy and possibly a roster player for O'Reilly (once his penalty expires for late signing) and their 1st round pick.

I cant imagine Loungo allowing a trade to colorado. Or Colorado wanting him for that matter either. I think it would be Schnieder going there way in a trade for the 1st but we're not trading Schnieder so....

I just asked that question on another thread. Is it Feb next year for O'Reilly? I thought he was available as of free agency. It seems not. But again, Gillis is crazy to not at least try for that pick

No, not until 365 days from the date the offer sheet was signed. One full calendar year.

He can try for the pick, but unless it only involves us giving up a piece like Luongo we could consider moving and more unknowns like our own pick or prospects that are not proven at the NHL I wouldn't do it. Jensen's the top of our prospect pool and we reasonably know what we might get from him at this point and Higgins is a useful roster player, while MacKinnon looks great but is by no means a guarantee to become a superstar.

Daigle, Stefan, Brendl, Falloon, etc. are all cautionary tales that top draft picks are great but not worth more than proven roster players that help you right now.

It would take something like this to realistically get Colorado's first overall...

To VAN:

1st Round Pick(1st overall)

To COL:

D Alex Edler

F Zack Kassian

1st Round Pick (23rd overall)

Crazy but that would probably be the asking price.
