Offer sheets are rarely ever successful. When was the last time you saw a team walk away from its RFA? Was it Anaheim with Dustin Penner? And how well did that turn out? You need to massively overpay for the other team to not match.

The team making the offer just ends up making enemies.

Also of note:

StL has a ton of cap space, but it remains to be seen whether they'll use it. Their owner is cheap.

Certainly we can land one of these guys if we're willing to make room ourselves.

If we're going after an RFA this summer, I think it will be Patrik Berglund. He fits the bill perfectly to be our third line center

Will never be a shut-down defenseman. Too soft. More like a reliable bottom pairing guy that you can trust. I'd never put him out in the last minute of a game unless i had no choice.

I fear...FEAR Tanev getting the offer sheet. Someone could offer enough that the only compensation is a 2nd round pick as of today and the Canucks could do literally nothing but watch him walk away if he accepted. Terrifying really. Stewart on the other hand would look good in a Canucks jersey no question
