Mr.Habitat
What's with Bob's tweet? Trottier's the new coach?
DownUndaCanuck
AV would definately get the forward stars going, but those defencemen will not cope with his offensive style. Girardi, McDonaugh and Staal do score quite a bit, but they never jump up and pinch as much as the Canucks defencemen, and are far more used to hanging back and blocking shots. AV's style will expose Lundqvist badly, so watch out. They will be a much more exciting team to watch though
Apple Juice
Guys... Bob McKenzie's tweet was referencing to when Trottier was hired as the coach of the Rangers before and when AV just got fired from the Habs..
avelanch
not gonna happen unless the rags trade for rome. AV is going to be reunited come hell or high water.
apollo
There's about 20 teams in the NHL that would be better with av. Nyr is obviously one of them

Langdon Algur
So do people who want Torterella just want history to repeat itself? Or are you too young to remember the Keenan years? If we want a windbag coach who will likely alienate half our players, Torts is the guy.
Ghostsof1915
As long as he isn't being considered to coach the Canucks, he can do whatever he wants. Trevor Linden for Canucks coach! 94 rematch!

elvis15
Not surprised this turned into a Torts to the Canucks thread. ... Bob Mckenzie Tweet:
-Vintage Canuck-
I could see AV in NY and Torts in Dallas.
Warhippy
Not shocked. AV would do very well in New York. And Shoot yourself for thinking Torts would be a good fit here...Torts is the kind of guy the Oilers need with their young loose stars, not the canucks with established veterans. I mean, we do want the Sedins and the like to want to re-sign here right? Instead of qalking off the job for being benched for not blocking a pre season shot with their face
oldnews
I'd hate to see AV wind up with the stRangers. He can do better. It's just unfortunate that the Habs job isn't vacant (as it was last summer).

MikeyBoy44
your statement contradicts itself. If the dmen are not pinching, staying back and blocking shots... wouldn't that help a goalie?

Smiling Jack
You mean 9/11 as in the 3000 plus people who perished in a terror attack that also resulted in two wars.

MJDDawg
Sportsnet is reporting that Mark Messier and Wayne Gretzky are interested in the vacant NYR head coaching position. It was just shown on Primetime Sports but I can't find a link anywhere. Interesting to say the least. Slats, Mess and Gretz back together again.
