VAN-PHI VAN-NSH

Recommended Posts

to phi: edler, luongo

to van: couturier, read, meszaros

pros:

- couturier could very well be the next toews

- read is a very serviceable speedy 20 goal scorer in a 82 game season

- get rid of that dark cloud that is the luongo drama that has been hovering over Vancouver for over a year

- meszaros is an often injured puck moving defenseman but we take on his 4m salary to create room for phi to make this deal...meszaros is a UFA after next year so no commitment and who knows maybe he can come in and be effective

cons:

- lose a defenseman with all the tools to be a very effective top pairing dman

- lose a integral part of our dressing room

philly does it because they need a blueliner and legit number 1 tendy.....and before u start ive done the math, its very possible if phi buys out bryz which has been rumoured to be the case in philly

to nsh: booth, weise

to van: halischuk

pros:

- get rid of booths contract

- acquire a 24 year old checking line kid who with right direction could be Hansen 2.0...just not as speedy

cons:

- weise had a certain degree of potential but a change is needed

nsh gets player who fits well in their top 9 forwards in booth and a adequate 4th line replacement in weise...and it helps them get to the floor of the cap

re-sign tanev 2yrs/3m

re-sign lapierre 2yrs/2m

sign clowe 4yrs/16m....replaces booth in the line up, you want torres I give u clowe

sign hannan 1yr/1m.....you saw in the sj-van series he is still effective and a hometown boy

sign fistric 1yr/1.2m....physical player to play with tanev

sign foster 1yr/.800k....that right handed shot dman who with right fit could rekindle what he had in tb with the sedins

buy out ballard

That is the trade that my friend and I have been kicking around, tho not quite that ambitious on the return. Good hockey deal that benefits both teams. Tho I have to say if you could get the pics St Louis had on Colorado's management, I'd go after them for their number 1 pick and giguere for luongo, and then trade Edler and a pick Philly's way for some of the above.

Nashville will never take booth. Hannan will re-sign with san jose. Clowe will get atleast 5per. Not that I believe he deserves it but with every team in the league looking for more size the bidding is gonna get insane like it does every summer.
