(Proposal) Columbus Blue Jackets 2013-14 Roster

Recommended Posts

Columbus just barely misses the playoffs this year after trading Rick Nash and acquiring Marian Gaborik. They have three first round picks this year in a very deep draft and IMO, they should deal one or two of their lowest first round picks to fill holes in their line up.

What they need:

- A first line LW

- A second line RW

- A back up for Bobrovsky

Here is what I propose to get those players:

First trade:

To Columbus: Thomas Vanek ($5 million)

To Buffalo: Tim Erixon, Austin Madaisky, 2013 1st (19th overall)

Draft selections:

14th overall: Hunter Shinkaruk

27th overall: Ryan Hartman

44th overall: Jackson Houck

75th overall: Marko Dano

105th overall: Jordan Subban

Cap space for re-signings: $14,393,691

------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------

Re-signings:

Artem Anisimov: 2 years, $5 million ($2.5 million per)

Blake Comeau: 2 years, $2.5 million ($1 million year 1, $1.5 million year 2)

Colton Gillies: 2 years, $750K per

Sergei Bobrovsky: 3 years, $10.5 million ($3.5 million per)

Cap space for free agency: $6,643,691

------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------

Signings:

Michael Ryder: 2 years, $9 million ($4 million year 1, $5 million year 2)

Tim Thomas: 1 year, $1.5 million

There would be just over $1.1 million in cap space left so that can be use to get to the 23-man roster

------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------

Line up:

Vanek - Johansen - Gaborik

Umberger - Dubinsky - Ryder

Foligno - Anisimov - Atkinson

Calvert - Letestu - Comeau

Gillies

Johnson - Wisniewski

Tyutin - Murray

Nikitin - Prout

Bobrovsky

Thomas

I don't think CBJ has proven that they are actually close enough to being a true contender to trade assets like Erixon and that 1st round pick.

They are better off being patient and making a move like that when they are a better and more proven team.

What about Jenner, I think their is a good chance he will make the line up.

What about CBJ trading their 14th overall, 27th and Erixon to get a top 5 pick, A team like FLA would probably listen to that type of offer.

I personally think CAL needs to consider trying to get Mackinnon in this years draft
