What if the NHL was like the CHL? (Fun Game)

Recommended Posts

Lets say, like the CHL, NHL teams were comprised of local talent (for the most part). For example, the Vancouver Giants are mainly comprised of players from the Vancouver area. Who would you think would have the best NHL teams, then?

Now I know there are Europeans in the fold as well, so let's say that the NHL is not restricted to North America, but rather worldwide. So, for example, you could make a team based purely on players from Ornskolwhatever (Sedins and Naslund birthplace) and the neighboring areas. Just be reasonable, don't pick all of Sweden and make a team lol.

We can do all-time teams, present players, whatever. I think it would be fun.

I'll start with a present British Columbia based team!

Jamie Benn - Ryan Nugent Hopkins - Evander Kane

Andrew Ladd - Ryan Johansen - Milan Lucic

Troy Brouwer - Shane Horcoff - Brett Connolly

Brandon McMillan - Kyle Turris - Colton Gillies

Dan Hamhuis - Shea Weber

Brent Seabrook - Willie Mitchell

Jason Garrison - Karl Alzner

Carey Price

Jason Labarbera

Pretty solid team, nicely rounded out...

(PS, you can use this site to easily seperate all the birthplaces of current and old NHL'ers http://www.hockey-re...birthplaces.cgi) Just click on a specific area, then click on the "To" tab to organize them by their last year in the NHL (If it says 2013, they are still currently in the NHL. You can use players that are free agents as well, like Brendan Morrison).

not horrible for the USA. Good goaltending. A lot of oldies and youngsters. Ontario wins everyday of the week and twice on sunday if it were like this.
