If Torres made the same play the NHL would suspend him from planet earth for an entire millennium.

That's a blatant and dirty play. He should be gone for the series. When you intentionally hit someone in the face with your hockey stick you deserve a stiff punishment. That's borderline assault. Especially for a repeat offender with a direct history of retaliatory penalties.

That being said, he will probably get a $500 fine.

I appreciate that he apologized. While I believe that he did intend to smack Carter, I don't think he intended to hit him that hard, or in the face for that matter.

I've actually gained some respect for Keith as a result of this.

Not suspendable, but it was worth the double-minor.

Keith should be suspended for every dirty act he does because it's always with intent to injure. The more suspensions, the better. Especially considering he got just a slap on the wrist for his hit on Daniel. (Something that would have a guy like Torres banned for 100 games)

He won't get anything though. The league doesn't want him to have another suspension for the recordbooks.

I don't know, watch the video, maybe?

You can see the end shaft of his stick got his shoulder, taking most of the impact, and the blade got his face.

If Keith slashed the side of Carter's face, he would be down for minutes, but instead he got up pretty quickly.

"It was an accident" Oh yeah ? so was Hansen's love tap to Hossa's head. If Hansen gets suspended for that this should 100% be a suspension. His intent was to slash him up high. I want Chicago to win the series but fck duncan keith. #repeatoffender

You need to watch that video again. That's a stick to the face.

That being said, you missed my point entirely. Even if he did hit his shoulder - which he clearly didn't - you would be an idiot to argue that the intended point of contact was the shoulder. He was clearly targeting the head.

What was he trying to accomplish by hitting his shoulder? To get his attention, maybe?

What was he trying to accomplish by targeting the head? Ending someone's career? Getting suspended for 20+ games knowing you're 6 games away for winning the Cup?

I think Keith is smart enough to take option A, like most NHL superstars.
