TheFastOne21
But yes, this is nothing imo. Carter sold it pretty hard..
Maninthebox
Society really needs to revisit this whole 'everyone is entitled to an opinion' thing.

Down by the River
I don't think he should be suspended. However, I do think it is time that Keith has to provide an on-ice answer for his reckless behaviour (i.e., he has to agree to fight someone without hiding behind the potential instigator penalty)
DIBdaQUIB
It was a deliberate swinging of the stick at a player in retaliation. One of the most dangerous plays in hockey and just a fluke that Carter didn't lose teeth or an eye. If the NHL does not suspend for such a blatant act, the entire disciplinary structure will be exposed as politically motivated gong show. I personally feel it is anyways after watching Torres get an entire series ban which may well have cost SJS their series for what was arguably a legal hit. The same with Rome 3 years ago. Watching TSN defend Keith's actions is like watching an episode of Canadian Air Farce. How those analysts can be taken seriously is beyond me. apollo
He's using his stick as a weapon. They should get the LAPD and throw his ass in jail. This hick needs to be kept off the ice.
ForsbergTheGreat
I say it was a dumb play. No way carter should have sprawled out on the ice like that. What happened to players, Yzerman & Sakic would have never laid like that. Shanahan even skated off the ice with a broken ankle one time.

TimberWolf
Here's what is irrelevant. Carter's slash or not What Keith intended Keith apologizing If you like Keith or not. What is relevant: Keith used his stick as a device not intended by the rules of the game and caused injury to the head of a fellow player. He's a repeat offender for head hits. Jägermeister
Does Keith have a history? Hansen did not.... And Bertuzzi said he was sorry too.... Someone's going to have to explain to me how a clean hit that was 1/2 a second late is worth the rest of the playoffs, while a deliberate stick to the face is worth a fine, "maybe"... Dazzle
The Hansen and Rome (I think that is what you are reffering to?) suspensions were jokes. Neither deserved any supplemental discipline. And him saying sorry afterwards really doesn't have anything to do with it.
Armada
That was awesome. Carter should get 2 games for diving.
ForsbergTheGreat
...with that logic, women deserve to be raped for being out in public without a chaperone? Carter was hit in the face by a hockey stick swung hard, and deliberately by an NHL Defenseman. The high sticking rules are clear, a player is responsible for his stick whether there is intent or not. Whether Keith intended to hit his face or his shoulder is moot. He deliberately used his stick as a weapon against another player. No suspension = no credibility for NHL.
EoH
Wish carter embellished this hit and just sold it by just staying on the ice, just for some justice!
DIBdaQUIB
I never said he should get away with it or that he shouldn't have got a penalty, did i? All I said is it was a dumb play by Keith and Carter should be embarrassed for his display on the ice after. Get off the ice and skate to the bench. Play the sport the Canadian way. How you took that and related that to rape I have know clue...

Stefan
An intentional slash to the face should be at minimum 10 games.
