DownUndaCanuck
What I don't understand is why his prior history doesn't come into this at all. Bob McKenzie kept saying that first the league has to deem it a suspendable play (they obviously did), and THEN his history would come into play. Surely a vicious elbow to the head means that Keith has a bad history, so when they deemed it a suspendable play why is he only getting 1 game and not more? Basically, his history means nothing in this case. The league deemed it suspendable, so a minimum of 1 game, and then his history didn't add to that at all. If he hadn't thrown that elbow before, he still would have been suspended 1 game. This league is a joke. Repeat offenders should be punished accordingly, and in this case Keith's history is completely ignored.

RUPERTKBD
i'm not going to overreact and want keith burned at the stake. carter stayed in the game regardless. guy's a hockey player. just the whole bit going down like he was shot. i never took a stick to the face before but that just made it look worse than it really was
-Vintage Canuck-
Duncan Keith's 1-game suspension means intentional violence still gets a pass in the NHL. http://thesco.re/13IjgCp
Twilight Sparkle
"Burned at the stake" and the punishment fitting the crime are two different things. You've never taken a stick to the face? Well I have (plus a skate and several pucks) and it hurts plenty. How bad does it have to be before a player is allowed to fall to the ice? 25 stitches? 30? People really shouldn't be commenting with things like "oh that was nothing", "embellishment", etc., if they've never been there.
RUPERTKBD
you mess with the bull, you get the horns. carter started that whole show slashing at the net then slashing his hand. don said it best, if you're looking for trouble, you're going to get it. inb4 "don's old. he's crazy"

Twilight Sparkle
What does that have to do with your claim that he went down too easily?
RUPERTKBD
it was a dumby move on keith's part, i'm not defending that. it was a poor reaction, i just said carter made it look worse than it really was, not looking at the end result, because, yeah, that was pretty bad. but he toughed it out and stayed in the game. if he didn't stay in the game, then maybe him throwing himself on to the ice and staying down as long as he did, maybe i would be saying something different, going with the majority calling keith a dirty bastard, but all the guy did was react. i'm sure you played the sport rupert. it's an emotional one. kinda hard to tell, on tv, if it's a work or a shoot. carter going down like that to sell it so the refs can see. you know it's a reaction, see it all the time when someone gets a stick to the face

Aladeen
But it was a 100% accident and he said sorry. Duncan Keith is the nicest person alive. Look at that face.... LOOK AT IT! The face of an angel.

spook007
If he was a Canuck player everybody here would be freaking out on Carter and saying stuff like "that slash on Keith's unprotected wrist could have broken it and he'd be out of the playoffs, he deserved every bit of it". Then, to defend the high stick they would all say he was just defending his captain or something lame like that. I say one game is fine but far be it for me to spoil this most recent two minute Duncan Keith hate.
