(Proposal) Offseason Plan

Recommended Posts

Apparently the Canucks want to move up in the draft to get some Russian. Don't know how to spell his name and I don't care. So here's what I suggest.

To TB: Edler, Higgins, Rights to Roy and Raymond, 2014 1st

To Van: 3rd overall, Lecavalier

Canucks get a good center on a huge contract. And obviously a high draft pick. Tampa gets some scoring and a great #1 d man. Hedman and Edler could be one of the best d pairings ever.

Canucks draft Jonathan Drouin

To NYI: Luongo, 1st

To Van: Martin, 1st

Canucks get a great fourth liner and move up in the draft. NYI gets a solid #1 for a few years and still get a first round pick.

To Van: 1st

To Win: Lecavalier, Hansen, 3rd

Winnipeg gets the first line center they need and a pick. Give up a mid first round pick.

Vancouver drafts Lazar

Sign hendricks.

Lineup:

Sedin Sedin Kassian

Burrows Kesler Drouin

Lazar Gaunce Jensen

Martin Hendricks Lapierre

Hamhuis Bieksa

Garrison Corrado

Ballard Tanev

Schneider

Lack

Great defense, solid, young, tough offense, great goaltending. And I'm sure its under the cap. Someone can check but it definitely should be. This team is good for now and the future.

What do you think?

With all due respect, is it fair to still consider LeCav a top-line centre? Only when looking at his atrocious salary, might one be tempted to reason this.

In observing his constant spate of injuries, I'd expect we'll see a Gomezian-decline from the "next Michael Jordan". Whoever takes on that contract, better get an accompanying HAUL, & go young/cheap; with an eye towards buying the dude out, within a couple yrs...

In your deal, I'd suggest dumping more cap on TBay(eg:they take Booth, not higgy); as well, demand another young piece, like Connolly thrown in. It would be a costly marriage/divorce with a girl that once won pageants...

Mackinnon would be the better fit with the Sedins because he's a right handed shot with creativity but he'll likely be gone by the 1st or 2nd pick. Honestly I don't know much about Drouin other than he plays with Mac as a C/LW and has put up similar numbers to him.

That sounds like a franchise player but my biggest concern is, can he play the RW just as effectively as LW and C? It puts pressure on him to make plays on his backhand more than his forehand so it would probably be best to put him on Kesler's LW than say RW with the Sedins.

Personally I think if we're going to make a big trade like this, we better be getting a player who would certainly be a fit with the Sedins OR Kesler. I'm just not convinced Drouin would be that, Mackinnon would probably be a better fit with our team right now than Drouin so I would pay a little more to get him instead.

I would probably agree but I just see it costing sooooo much. Drouin is a right winger I believe. I think he can play either though. And I don't think it should be a concern if he will fit with the sedins since we have other players who can fir there and they will retire before kesler.

Well given the rumor that Florida may be seriously shopping their 2nd overall, getting Mackinnon may be possible and would probably be the same price if not better, than what TB would ask for their 3rd overall.

Even if Drouin is a RW, I would bet that Mackinnon would be a better fit with the Sedins than him. Hard to say for sure but they have said it's easier playing with a rightie than a leftie, also they enjoy playing with creative players so Mackinnon fits both criteria. That would be intresting because they have never had a player who has met both those criteria...

Yes we have others who can play with the Sedins but it's nice to have advancement opportunities for a youngster rather than glueing him to Kesler's line, I know I'm a minority here but I think the Sedins are a long way from ending their career in Vancouver(see Alfredsson).
