Recommended Posts

First off our tradable assets. :

Picks – 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th in this year’s draft. All picks for next year.

Players – Burrows, Booth, Hansen, Edler, Ballard, Luongo, Schneider from current roster.

Depth player (Minors/Prospects) – Gaunce, Jensen

Secondly our FA’s. :

UFA’s – Roy, Malhotra, Raymond, Lapierre, Pinizzotto, Alberts, Barker, Ebbett, Vandermeer

RFA’s – Weise, Tanev, Joslin, Sweatt, Schroeder, Rodin, Sauve(only mentioning ones who could mean something either as depth to the organization or for trade)

This leaves us with :

FORWARDS

Daniel Sedin ($6.100m) / Henrik Sedin ($6.100m) / Zack Kassian ($0.870m)

Chris Higgins ($2.500m) / Ryan Kesler ($5.000m) /

Tom Sestito ($0.750m) /

DEFENSEMEN

Jason Garrison ($4.600m) / Kevin Bieksa ($4.600m)

So lets start with a few trades. I’ve looked at a lot of trades on CDC as well as some that I have posted and came up with a few that seem reasonable and some with a few tweaks. As well as some swinging for the stars.

Trade #1

This one all hinges around if the rumors are correct that Phily are planning to byout Bryz.

To Vancouver

RW – Jakub Voracek

RW –Daniel Briere (Compliance Byout)

RW – Matt Read

11th overall pick

To Philadelphia

G – Roberto Luongo

D – Alexander Edler

Phily gets the #1 goalie they have longed for as well as a top pairing defenceman. We get the offence we need on our right side. This is a huge upgrade over Burrows and Hansen. As well Phily gets to resign Briere at a cheaper cap hit.

Trade #2

To Vancouver

C - Johan Sundstrom

D – Rights to Thomas Hickey

15th overall

To New York

RW – Jannik Hansen

D – Keith Ballard

C – Rights to Jordan Schroeder

26th overall

NYI gets an immediate replacement for the lost of Streit and more depth up front. Ballard alone could probably get us Ullstrom and Hickey. Hansen, Schroeder and our 1st I think is fair for their 1st. In Ullstrom we get another Kassian; lots of size and upside. Difference is he has a solid 2way game. As for Hickey; if developed right could ease the lost of Edlers production.

Trade #3

To Vancouver

9th overall

To New Jersey

RW – Alexander Burrows

LW – David Booth(If not on IR)

1st rounder 2014

3rd rounder 2013

NJ gets immediate offensive help up front. The 3rd is to offset Booth injury. Jersey also get a 1st in next year’s draft which they lose because of the Kovalchuk deal. If Booth is on IR or if NJ needs a little more we give them Joe Cannata and maybe Sauve.

ATTENTION TRADES 4 THROUGH 6 ARE DREAM TRADES BUT COULD HAPPEN

Trade #4

To Vancouver

2nd overall

LW - Thomas Kopecky

To Florida

G – Cory Schneider

15th overall

Need I say more. FLA needs goaltending and Cory gives them that but think he and the 15th pick are to much and feel Kopecky is reasonable to ask for.

Trade #5

To Vancouver

1st overall

To Colorado

C – Brendan Gaunce

6th overall

Well Colorado get a great prospect in Gauce as well they do not give up to much draft position.

Trade #6

To Vancouver

3rd overall

To Tampa Bay

Nicklas Jensen

9 th overall

Well Tampa gets our best prospect and 9th overall which is still a great pick in this years draft. Can't see them at least not coming back with a counter but I think this is fair.

Now with the top three picks I would take Makkinon, Jones and Drouin and Zach Fucale at 11th just in case Lack fails. I would than let all the kids go to the AHL so they mature for a year and see if they can learn to dominate at the next level.

Signings

Victor Stalberg 2.5m/yr over 3yrs

Derek Roy 3.0m/yr over 3yrs (This would be a big maybe. But with the lineup it gives us I say he does it)

Bryan Bickell 2.5m/yr over 3yrs

Maxium Lapierre 1.5m/yr over 3yrs

Chris Tanev 1.5m/yr over 3yrs (two way contract)

Thomas Hickey .9m/yr over 2yrs (two way contract)

Andrew Alberts 1.5m/yr over 2yrs

Andrew Ference 2.25-3.0m/yr over 3yrs

Our Lineup

Tomas Kopecky ($3.000m) / Ryan Kesler ($5.000m) / Matt Read ($0.900m)

Viktor Stalberg ($2.500m) / Derek Roy ($3.000m) / Bryan Bickell ($2.500m)

Chris Higgins ($2.500m) / Johan Sundstrom ($0.925m) / Zack Kassian ($0.870m)

Maxim Lapierre ($1.500m) /

DEFENSEMEN

Dan Hamhuis ($4.500m) / Kevin Bieksa ($4.600m)

As you can see I didn’t insert any of the returns from Trades 4 through 6. Although they or trades close to those picks are attainable. But this shows we can offload a lot of pieces and get decent returns which allow us to be aggressive in the free agent market.

Just remember before you flame. Trades 1 through 3 could happen I just showed with the rest of them what the bonus could look like.

And yes for all those who just like to flame because they feel this player or that player should be on a different line. It doesn’t matter players can be moved around.
