ken kaniff
Hire John Tortarella http://slam.canoe.ca...1/20892106.html Gillis said Torts is a "Strong Candidate". Also Torts has proven he can win a cup as well as holding players accountable for their play. he doesnt give them any breaks because they are star players, this team could use a kick in the butt when they start playing 30% of the game instead of working hard through the whole thing like they have the past couple years. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Trades: Philadelphia-Vancouver It's not carved in stone, but in spite of what has been said in past, I expect PHI is likely to use compliance buyout on Ilya Bryzgalov Source: Bob McKenzie's Twitter **If Bryzgalov gets bought out like the rumors suggest** G Roberto Luongo and D Derek Joslin(rfa) to Philadelphia for RW Wayne Simmonds and a 2013 3rd round draft pick -We get a top 6 winger who should be able to get 60pts in a full season without injuries. Simmonds is a Burrows type player who is younger and can fight back when being pushed around. This should replace Samuellsson from our 2011 team. -They get a top goaltender who can anchor a defense and carry a team to the playoffs, maybe pull some upsets with the team philly has. They also get a depth defenseman. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.hockeybuz...82#.UbjDx_msh8E -Take it for what it is. might not be 100% true but it is possible and a good idea that we get a top prospect. and like many of you have suggested already the guy targeted his LW Valerie Nichuskin. D Alex Edler, C Jordan Schroeder, RW Anton Rodin and our 2013 1st round draft pick to Nashville for their 2013 1st round draft pick(4th overall) and 2nd round draft pick(34th) -Nashville gets a top pairing offensive d-man, a couple good forward prospects and a later 1st round draft pick. I think this is a fair deal to get a top 5 draft pick. anything more and i say hell no. We clear cap space and help our cap situation. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LW David Booth to Minnesota for D Clayton Stoner (6'3 213lbs) and D Marco Scandella(RFA)-(6'3 210lbs) -We get 2 big crease clearing defense men that hit and can fight. they can play bottom 4 min and arent pylons. we also clear cap space and move towards being under the cap, plus they wont be in our division next season so we dont play Booth that much. -Min gets Booth who can add to their lack of offense by giving them a 20goal guy when healthy. i would rather keep booth but he is a guy that has got to go with the cap coming down. no rumor for this one but i think its a good deal to gain cap space and get a couple of tough defenseman who can fight and arent useless. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Draft Draft 4th overall LW Valerie Nichuskin - Projected to be a Malkin/Ovechkin type player by many scouts http://www.mynhldraf...leri-Nichushkin Draft 34th overall C Nick Petan-top scoring player in the CHL, but small at 5'9. he should slip into the 2nd round because of that. Has the skill to be a top line centerman and may turn out to be a Roy or St.Louis type player. surrounding him with big guys like Kassian, Jensen and Nichuskin should make up for his lack of size. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Signings D Jordie Benn 2 years @ 700 000 per (good depth, and BC native) D Ian White 2 years @ 3mill per (solid puck moving d-man. RHD to pair with Garrison) D Chris Tanev 3 years @ 2mill per D Marco Scandella 1 year @ 900 000 per C Boyd Gordon 2 years @ 2.25mill per (Manny Malholtra replacement) C Maxim Lapierre 3 years @ 1.25mill per RW Dale Weise 2 years @ 750 000 per LW Jeff Tambellini 2 years @ 700 000per (better than Ebbett and he was decent when he played here. dont know why Gillis let him go) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Roster Notes -Simmonds is a good player who can retreive the puck like Burrows but he has more offensive upside IMO. with the Sedins he can put up 60+ pts every year unlike Burrows who is overpayed for 50-55pts -Hansen was one of our top players last season. he got 29pts playing mostly on the 3rd line. give him a permanent 2nd line spot and 50-60pts isnt out of the question. OR if Nichuskin is ready to step up in to this team sign him and have him play the 2nd line in Hansens spot. then Hansen and Kassian slide down. I think at least 1 full year in the KHL would be more appropriate for his development and hopefully he doesnt stay there. -Kassian plays on the 3rd line to add toughness to it and so he can round out his game becoming more defensively responsible. Gordon is a Malholtra type player, who can win faceoffs and contribute offensively sometimes. -Tambo is a good player who can score and is decent defensively. hes not tough but this would be a good 4th line. Draw in Sestito in place of Tambo if the situation calls for it. -the Hamhuis-Bieksa pairing reunited. this was our best shutdown pairing in our cup run and should be reuinted. -Garrison-White combo should be good defensively as well as being able to set up Garrison's rocket of a shot. i can see Garrison cracking 10 goals in a full season easily, and White getting 25-30pts. then when Whites contract expires Corrado has his chance to step-up into the lineup and make a name for himself after 2 years of development in the AHL. -our bottom pairing wont get much offense but it wont be a defensive liability. Stoner is tough and hits, Tanev plays a mistake free game. cant ask much more out of a bottom pairing. -Our depth options are big and arent as bad as Barker was defensively. -overall this team should be better defensively than we were last season and should be able to maintain scoring with the new additions. we also have a bright future with our new prospects Nichuskin-top line game changer (replaces Daniel) Petan-top 6 centerman (replaces Henrik) Jensen-top 6 sniper Kassian-top 9 powerforward Gaunce-2nd/3rd line shutdown centerman (replaces Gordon) Corrado-top 4 d-man (replaces White) Tanev-top 4 shutdown d-man FORWARDS Daniel Sedin ($6.100m) / Henrik Sedin ($6.100m) / Wayne Simmonds ($3.975m) Alexandre Burrows ($4.500m) / Ryan Kesler ($5.000m) / Jannik Hansen ($1.350m) Chris Higgins ($2.500m) / Boyd Gordon ($2.250m) / Zack Kassian ($0.870m) Jeff Tambellini ($0.700m) / Maxim Lapierre ($1.250m) / Dale Weise ($0.750m) Tom Sestito ($0.750m) / DEFENSEMEN Dan Hamhuis ($4.500m) / Kevin Bieksa ($4.600m) Jason Garrison ($4.600m) / Ian White ($3.000m) Clayton Stoner ($1.050m) / Chris Tanev ($2.000m) Marco Scandella ($0.900m) / Jordie Benn ($0.700m) GOALTENDERS Cory Schneider ($4.000m) Eddie Lack ($0.750m) OTHER Buyout: Keith Ballard ($0.000m) ------ CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled with the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $62,195,000; BONUSES: $0 CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $2,105,
Aladeen
I like it... but I would be amazed if minny agreed to that trade, but maybe. I think Stoner is great being from BC and would be great for jokes in Vancouver!
Apples
Our forward group is basically the same. I can't see us going far in the playoffs

TspecPA
I like it. Only things different I would suggest are sign Bickle in favour of Tambellini. Cap space would be there. Also Gaunce in favour of resigning Lapierre. Based on scouting reports prior to the 2012 draft he was described as the most NHL ready prospect after Yakapov. Gaunce has had a year to grow and improve speed. His size and skill set along side Bickle could not only shut other teams down, but add scoring from a fourth line. RARE. These two could easily move up the lines when needed.

Warhippy
A good scenario. But you forget Rodin flew the coop for Europe, Philli would have to do better than a 3rd round pick I would hope and I am unsure that Minni would be willing to take on injured salary with their current situation. All in all not bad, fairly realistic

Dogbyte
Nicely done, good effort. I like all the moves (Minny dmen) but I'm not a big fan of signing White at $3 mil per, nor do I like Hansen on the second line but if we're going to suck anyway and tank it might at well be at the expense of having some good players in the system. Gordon is good and Tambelini while small makes the 4th line better because of his speed and excellent forchecking ability. He might score the odd goal once in a while and is probably better as a fill in on two than Higgins is.
Warhippy
Don't we maintain Rodin's rights though? I don't actually know how that works. If we did, you could still trade his rights. He probably has an NHL out-clause in his contract.
c00kies
That forward group still won't score. SImmonds is gritty and like Burrows, but is not a natural scorer.

Canuck Surfer
I like proposals that offer valid deals to get good players; well done! I also like that you addressed depth players, the cap... Simmonds and the big Russian will add firepower and brute athletes. How good a puck mover do you think White is? If we can move the puck its a good line up, but I fear we spend a lot of time in our end?

Wiznac
This is one of the most reallistic proposals ive read well done . not to big on Tambo coming back but i like the rest
Apples
how? 1st line: Simmonds(60pts)>Burrows(50pts) 2nd line: Burrows(50pts)>Booth(30pts), Hansen(45-50pts)>Raymond(40pts) 3rd line: Gordon(57% FO)>Schroeder/Lapierre(50 and below FO%) 4th line: Tambellini>Ebbett the forward group gets better and tougher. also if you are expecting GILLIS to completely change around the team than your delusional. THIS is even a stretch. what Gillis will probably do is trade Lu for something, keep Booth and Edler and sign some big depth forwards and call it bad luck if we get eliminated
ken kaniff
You add three new players to the team. Tambellini/Gordon isn't going to do much besides being 4 line players. Now all there is left is Simmonds who only knows how to crash the net
Warhippy
we arent going to get an Eriksson, Ryan or Neal. Its not realistic, those teams wont give up those players. If Nichuskin is ready for the NHL he can either be on the 1st or second line. that right there gives us a natural scorer D.Sedin-H.Sedin-Nichuskin Burrows-Kesler-Simmonds Higgins-Gordon-Hansen Tambellini-Lapierre-Kassian this could be our lineup also. but i dont think Nichuskin will be ready for at least another year, and there arent many other options unless you want to sign Clarkson for 4-5mill which is ridiculous. adding Jensen wont do us much good either since he needs to prove himself in the AHL. what did you have in mind to get us more scoring? canadiangunner
Would u trade bryzgalov for kesler? That's what you are asking philly to do whith the simmonds proposal. Would never happen.
