Steven Stamkos
What about Montreal? If Chicago wins they would have lost to Ottowa who lost to Pittsburgh who lost to Boston. Happens more often then you think. Edit: didn't read the sweep part but it happens more than you think. 2009: STL gets swept by Van who loses to Chicago who loses to Detroit who finally losses to Pittsburgh
Dazzle
Canucks would have beaten the majority of the Eastern conference. They could have beaten Anaheim, Minnesota, Detroit and Chicago as well.
poetica
You know how in years past, we console ourselves (when possible) by saying "we lost to the Stanley Cup Champions", to help ease our pain..........well if Boston wins this year, we are the ONLY team in the NHL that (maybe the history of the NHL) to do this: Got SWEPT by a team (SJ), that lost to a team (LA), that lost to a team (CHI), that lost to the Stanley Cup Champs.................. Jägermeister
I look and see which team this happens to each playoffs, didn't even realize that it might be us this year. In any case, I still want Boston to win.

apollo
It's blatant that the Canucks were a substandard team with a fanbase that was beyond delusional. The team this year would have been slaughtered by any of the teams playing in the playoffs.
7thMan
That happened to the Blues in 2009 and it was the Canucks that swept them. Sorry to be a buzzkill... EDIT: Also, duh we would be the only team to do that this year, there can only be one team in that situation. If Chicago wins, Montreal lost in 5 to Ottawa who lost to Pittsburgh in 5 who lost to Boston in 4, who lost to Chicago in __.
Heretic
I guess it's all a moot point unless the Canucks were slotted in to play any of the above teams. I just felt that this team was extremely substandard based on the play of other teams.

Butters Stoch
I already thought that SJ was the easiest possible matchup we could've gotten (besides Minny) in our conference. Even if by some miracle we got into the SCF, Boston would annihilate us.
SamJamIam
I agree, and they were sub standard compared to themselves. They were on pace for a 100 point season - which would have tied them for 3rd worst outing by the Canucks the last 8 seasons. Now, for the Flames or Oilers - 100 points would be amazing. For the Canucks, that's sub standard.
vcrguy
It's happening............. And for those who say, of course we can be the only team to do this (e.g. there can be only one)............its true, I agree there can be only one.........Just like 1 person to finish last in the Boston Marathon, one person to finish last in the AHL standings, one person to finish last in every event. The point being, we're last! And that shouldn't be acceptable!

Canucks_fo_life
Canucks fans nowadays so down on their team. We lost by 1 goal in 3 of the 4 games, just like vs LA last year, all close games. We didn't get the bounces or the officiating.

Dilly Canuck
Honestly we were really that bad! We could all see the team feeling sorry for themselves and just giving up. Didn't matter who we played, once adversity comes this team was gonna fold. I don't have a cup or bust mentality like most Canucks fans, all I want to see is a little effort, was that too much to ask for?
CALGARY!
All 16 teams in the playoffs each year can link themselves to the cup winner threw some retarded chain. Say you could loose to a team who went onto win the second round but lost in the third round and the team that beat them lost to the cup winner. No matter which way you add it up every team can link tp the cup winner. The Isles lost to Pittsburgh who beat Ottawa who lost to Boston who may now either win the cup or lose the cup, eithernway the Islanders are connected to the cup. Stupid thread

timberz21
There's a difference between being a realist and being pessimistic. You cannot argue that we were a standard playoff team, just from looking at other teams play in the playoffs against the same teams. Other teams didn't take as many penalties. Other teams didn't take as many icings. Players stepped up. Canucks didn't have many players step up.
