I agree with this.

I don't think having a certain limit is fair to teams that have a lot of free agents this year. A team with under 6 notable free agents will have no problem, but teams with more than 6 will be worse off.

If I could suggest a different alternative, perhaps we could make it that teams are allowed full negotiations with a certain proportion of their free agents? For example, teams are allowed full negotiations with 50% of their free agents?

That would put every team in the same boat with regards to negotiations.

Again, I'd be against this, as I have specifically followed the current, agreed rules in all of my trade dealings, shipping out impending UFAs and RFAs so as to limit the number of negotiations I will need to handle.

I agree with Azzy here.

This has been the rule since Sept, and although I didnt pay attention about it until November - I have been planning my attack plan that way since.

If someone wants to submit offer sheets to players like Fedun or Bulmer - then have at it.

Some people may have more guys to sign though. Personally I don't so it's not a concern to me but if I had more players to sign I would struggle with the rule so I just pointed it out.

Either way I don't think it's that big of a deal and I don't think the rule is really all that unreasonable.. if people don't like it this year we can just change it next?

Word.

I always encourage the membership to reanalyze and try to adapt the game for the better in the offseason. We are a group of intelligent men able to overcome logistical obstacles with proper planning.

Changing a rule this major midseason should be a non-starter IMHO.

Agree with this for sure unless the mass majority wants something changed.

I agree with both of you.

When that rule change was first pointed out as a reminder in November (as I said, it was done in the offseason) - I was a little annoyed by it. But realized that changing mid-season is not really possible.

I agree we review in the off-season, if we dont like we change.

I will point out - that originally the rule change didn't allow us to talk to ANY pending UFA/RFA prior to the deadline - and I pitched to Curt why it should be changed, and it was; and this is why I brought it up again now.

Absolute non-starter.

I'm open to discussion and suggestions of course, but they would only be considered for next season. The rules in place are what will be in effect this season. Personally I think it will be a very positive change. I understand the concerns our members have, but I don't think the new rules will make as drastic a difference as some people think.

WAIVERS: The Montreal Canadiens have claimed Zach Redmond from Philadelphia via waivers.

The Habs are pleased to welcome Zach back. He remains on the active roster for now. To make room:

Assignment: The Montreal Canadiens assign Dylan Olsen to North Dakota (does not require waivers).

Dallas is considering moving some playoff pieces to bring in some prospects and stability, Wingels and Demers could be moved...or any of our other playoff bound players... Drafting early is fun, but we do not want to be in this position year after year. Make me a solid offer soon.... :P

I of course agree with offseason retooling, rather than midseason, and I know that we are playing a great, and sophisticated game as it is. My only thought for tonight is on the waiver eligibility...perhaps a switch to simply "100 NHL Games Played"...and have it include playoff games and regular season..the only possible modifier I can think of is for goaltenders and that could be made to be 75 or 60 since a season and a half for anyone else is 100..but for a goalie it might be 5 years....lol....
