John had been carrying our team on his back for most of the season, and now it's back to the good ol' days where we will rely heavily on the play of our franchise goalie. theminister Posted February 24, 2014 Share Posted February 24, 2014 TRADE RUMOUR: Reports out of Long Island suggest that the Islanders have approached impending UFA Patrice Bergeron regarding his willingness to waive his NMC as the deadline approaches. According to inside sources there is indecision as to what direction the club may take going forward with their Alternate Captain by it is highly speculated that the club is exploring their options with young centres Tyler Seguin and Logan couture already under contract. it is being speculated that the team is seeking multiple pieces including a roster player in return for them to consider moving him. A source deep inside the Islanders head office reported that Bergeron's camp is open to discussing a move but they informed the club that, "he would like to consider a move to a club that would see him as a key piece both now and into the future, not as purely a rental type player or depth addition. If he can treat a move at the deadline as a potential trial run with an off-season suitor, it might help make any transition easier for his family and himself. "I was fortunate to play many years at this level with a great organization and unbelievable teammates," said Hejduk in a statement. "I realized my lifelong dream of not only playing in the NHL but winning a Stanley Cup. My family and I are proud to call Denver home and are enjoying our time together."
