I dont know why you want to bring up Shink in all your trade proposals..is it because you think he is our only prospect with value or is it because you dont like him that much...Shink is an A all star this year..Rychel isnt close   but size wise Rychel fits JBs mold I guess..

What I'm thinking is other teams might be actually be calling, asking for Shink and JB is NOW saying no.  You would think a guy like Rychel would be a JB guy, and Columbus makes the call to do a trade for Shink (who JB was clearly offering up last summer) straight up?

With that in mind, maybe JB is not trading Shink?  I have been thinking Shink is not a JB guy for a long time, and expecting there to be a trade.

You realize rychels numbers are better than shinkaruks in the ahl and hes holding his own in the nhl right?

He is up with the Blue Jackets now...just checking on that..9 points in 20 games which isnt bad..as for his A numbers being better than Shinks..total wise they are pretty close in the same amount of games  Rychel..72 games played...17g...36a.....shink...111 games played...33g...30a

I'm just bothered by the fact that you value shinkaruk over Rychel  because he isn't an ahl allstar... neither is Horvat. But i can tell you who I'd rather have of it was between him or Shink lol.

I'm not really sure what a "JB guy" is.   When he trades for guys like Vey, Weber and Baers; I can't imagine why he wouldn't like Shinks, as he would be the best of the bunch.  JB likes the big guys, but he also likes speed and skill.

That's a good point.  JB did say too (recently during the prospect's game) that he like our forward depth in the prospect pool, and was looking at D for the coming draft.  How many of those little fellers can we have in our top six?  If Baer is on a line, is there a spot for Shink?

no..that isnt the only reason..I think once Shink makes the NHL..he will be something special..Rychel could be as well and probably fits JBs mold more than Shink...but im a shink fan and Horvat never even played in the AHl except for a few games rehab.

Not to mention that his pet in Boston was kocklachev. A player with similar game and skillset  to shinkaruk. I think he's in alot of trade proposals because he holds quite a bit if value.

tend to agree on the trade thing..I dont know what JB is thinking  but Im sure Shink would be a trade chip he would use.

Does he use it to get a guy like Rychel, or would JB see that as a sideways move?  Or does he move Shink with Hammer, to get a guy like Bowie?  I really believe other teams will want a young prospect in combination with Hammer, so Shink might be JB's guy to trade.  Or, I guess Gaunce could be that guy?  Who between Shink and Gaunce is more a JB guy?

It will be an interesting trade deadline and off season..I just hope if Shink survives it he gets a good shot with the big club next season...if not I hope he is moved for a stud D which we really can use.

Ya, like David Bowie!    I love it when my mistakes (which are MANY) are pointed out here.

It will be a shame if we never get to see Shinks make the team.  I think he is far better than Baers, Vey or Etem (or any other LW not named Sedin) and would be a huge addition to the top 6.  His spirit and drive are the things that make his potential even greater.

I can manage the loss if JB managed to acquire a stud D though.

If he is traded they will certainly get something decent back for him.  He's not in the same category as Jensen whose progress had stalled, and it's not a particularly wise idea in the first place to trade away a player who's developing well unless it is for similar or a producer.  For those reasons it is much more likely he is not moved, despite all those who seem to want it to happen.

Agreed.  The team has spent a lot of time developing Shinks and Gaunce, so it would be a pity to see either of them go.  I would say Shinks is the most valuable prospect (not in the NHL) right now, so he probably could get a decent return.

I would prefer to see him in a Canuck jersey; far more than Baer, Vey or Etem.

I dont think he is a JB guy either..if all reports were true he has been offered up for trade before..which leads me to believe he will be again..it wouldnt surprise me if he was...might be better for him in the long run..kid blows everyone away in the spring only to get sent down...he is a 1st round pick that was supposed to go higher than he did and fell to us...if McCann and Virt are getting time wqith the big team to learn the game I dont know why Shink hasnt been treated the same.

I am hoping that Benning moves a few vets out and finishes the season with Shink and Gaunce playing in Vancouver. Might be wishful thinking if the Comets have any chance at a Calder run.

Your point about Shink not getting NHL TOI is the same for Gaunce. Although I want both in Van by year end it might not happen but Benning has said that he thinks they are gaining more in Utica. IMHO Vrbata, Prust, Higgins, and one of Burrows and Dorsett will be gone next year.

A debate that might be had is whether Benning views Baer and Shink as similar players on the left side, one of which he could deal. I do not see Gaunce going anywhere and he likely comes up for an extended look next year as LW.

No worries on that front.  He doesn't view them at all as similar players - which makes sense because they are very different.  Benning talks of Shinkaruk as a goal scorer.  He talks of Baertschi as a playmaker.

There wont be a lot of room.....considering Virt and McCann are givens...Zalweski is also pretty much a lock and you will need some veteran presence   ..and Gaunce might slot in over Shink...I hope Im wrong cuz I love the kid but I just dont see much of a future here for Shink.

True enough. I was thinking more of the physical side. Baer has progressed so much this year and has shown a real ability to drive the net and score goals off of Horvat's play. Another reason to hope we get a look at Shink at some time this spring to have a better look.
