The type of players who if not good enough to be top 6, can't be bottom six due to size, and that's the only way for them to stay in the NHL, to be a legit top 6.

Tenacious with retrieving the puck is just as good as being able to cycle or keep possession. And Vey is definitely battling for loose pucks much more this year

And of course, Shink won't be a goalscorer if Vey is a better puck shooter than him and Vey won't be a playmaker if Shink is has better vision.

And he's coming up with them.  Last year and early this season, it seemed he was always on the wrong side of the battle, and had no room to move and make plays.  This year he's often coming up with pucks and is making plays because he has that extra split second.  Vey has also looked good on the PP with Bo and Sven; they've been moving the puck well and getting chances.

I was very much down on Vey to start the season as he was no different from last year.  But he came up looking much better, and Etem has really made them an effective tandem.  Don't know how much nostalgia has to play in it, but Etem and Shinkaruk were dynamic together in junior as well -- 107 and 91 points respectively, with the next-closest guy at 55.

Vey was allegedly brought up to be showcased, but that was before Etem arrived.  Can't help but think they'd like to see the three of them play together before deciding to ship him out.  Right now Etem is engaging on the boards and freeing up pucks, and Vey comes in to get them and make plays.  They just need that finisher to be in position to complete the score.  Hopefully enough spots are opened between now and the TD that we'll see Shink up for a few games to audition.

Yes.  Would love to see .shink with those two on a third line.  Vrby and Hansen gotta go for it to happen though.

Hansen can play with the Sedins or Bo/Sven.  No rush to push him out the door, as he's extremely versatile and is a bargain right now.

Virtanen and McCann need spots, as will Zalewski.

Twins Sutter

Bo Baer Virtanen

Triple Hat Line

McCann Dorsett Zalewski

Burr waive bye bye to Utica and buy out

Hansen has to be packaged with something to get us another D prospect.  Tanev and Hansen for Hamonic?

2016-17:

Sedin - Sedin - Sutter

Baertschi - Horvat - Hansen

Burrows - McCann - Etem

Gaunce - Zalewski - Dorsett

Shinkaurik, Cracknell, Virtanen

Edler - Tanev

Hamhuis - Demers

Hutton - Sbisa

Biega, Pedan

Miller

Markstrom

I think that is most likely what the lineup could look like net year.

Thats pretty realistic the only change I see is Etem for Virtanen and then Gaunce for Etem so

Sedin - Sedin - Hansen

Baertschi - Horvat - Sutter

Burrows - McCann - Virtanen

Etem - Zalewski - Dorsett

Shinkarkuk, Gaunce, Greiner ( 1 of these 3 are the 13th forward, probably Grenier)

The only change on the defence is that I think Benning will try and get Barrie/Myers if they become available.

Defence is

Edler-Tanev

Hamhuis-Myers/Barrie

Hutton-Sbisa

and then Biega-Pedan

That's the thing, we have so many different options going with our lineup.

I would prefer Barrie over Myers, but not if it sets us back in our prospect pool.

Vey is in Utica.

Demers is an upcoming right handed UFA currently playing top-4 minutes in Dallas.

Tryamkin will not be in our top-4. He might not even come over. Even if he did, the only way he would play top-4 would be if there are injuries.

You seem like a nice guy, but sometimes I wonder about you.

Bruce Springsteen is the boss.

Vey is an average prospect being given preferential treatment by his former junior coach.

Maybe last year, not so much this year. 61% off his starts during 5v5 are in the D-zone this season. That's not preferential treatment.

No, but playing more minutes than any other forward in a game and getting first unit powerplay time is.

Why do we always have to trade trade trade everything we have? Why not develop our own players and core, let them grow as a team together.

I couldn't agree more. A lot these posters in here play fantasy hockey and make any trade they can dream up. Most of them are completely lost on how the real world of trading works.

Unless McCann really bulks up in the summer then I'm sorry but he probably goes to the AHL. It's not a shot at McCann, I think he's got great talent and his play has been pretty decent overall but he's just got to get the physical tools in order to be a reliable centre in the league.

Vey has been playing pretty good hockey lately, he'll likely have a contract and a spot next season if he steadily shows improvement which is a good thing because it gives us time with McCann.

It would be pretty cool to see what Shink and McCann could do in a full year in the AHL but I'd rather be hoping Shink pushes for a full-time spot in the lineup.
