theminister
Richardson over Lappy makes zero sense to me, unless Torts doesn't like Lappy.
zombieksa
Trying to help alter the culture of the team, and the reputation in the league's eyes, does make sense. Whether it works or not is the question.

qwijibo
Yeah, that's the only reason I can see them doing this. Richardson seems like he'd fit in with Torts' plan better than Lapierre unfortunately
sting
Gonna miss Lappy and all the hits. This was a move made to try and rid a bad image. Did a great job for the team. Refs targeted him against the Sharks and we can't have fourth liners getting costly penalties. St.Louis just got even tougher to play.
theminister
HUUUUGE fricking risk given contract Lappy would have cost us.
poetica
Damn. And he signed for what I thought we should give him too. I wish him all the best. But man I'll miss that smirk!!

RonMexico
I won't miss him. He didn't really ever do much for me to like him.
Kakanucks
good luck lappy~~~ really liked him even before he became a canuck when he was still a hab~ but that being said....i thought he kinda disappeared last season after the finals..... best of luck to him in stl. theminister
If he's trying to alter our reputation why hire the coach that is hated by 100% of the world lol? Makes no sense to me... another bonehead mg move.
Master Mind
Lappy > Richardson. And Lappy is making less money. MG screws something up yet again. I know it's only the 4th line, but it's hard not to be frustrated when we keep losing key pieces to our 2011 run.
Bo Horvat
You mean to tell me we couldn't afford 1.1M for Lapierre? Even if it's just for 2 years to give our newly drafted centres some time to develop? I realize our cap crunch but wow. I guess it's going to be really tight in trying to re-sign Tanev, Schroeder and Weise.
apollo
Actually, Torts is respected by the hockey world and hated by the media. Big difference. I speak from a place of knowledge on this one. FYI, I was against Torts. Willing to wait and see.
firestorm238
Take a hint guys - GM MG decided to go in another direction. It obviously wasn't about the money.
EternalCanuckFan
I was stoked when the Canucks first acquired Lapierre. It was great to see him play well during the Stanley Cup run but I have to admit that his play has diminished since then. Hopefully he finds the same level of tenacity that he brought to Vancouver initially (but not against the Canucks of course). Either way, the Blues get another big, physical forward - will be an even more punishing physical matchup next season.
