Brick Tamland
Does anyone know if it is a complete NTC or is it a 'submit list of 5 teams' etc..? If it is a complete NTC why is there all this speculation that he would waive it? People are trying to sweeten the pot on moving Luo with Edler but depending on his contract he may not want to go. Between the 2, they may not waive their NTCs if they don't agree on a destination.
mpt
It's a full NTC
Rick Grimes
Anyone that honestly thought Edler was going to be moved is crazy, Full NTC from what I know; there is a reason he was compared to Nik Lidstrom; Keep in mind, Lidstrom didn't win his first Norris Trophy until age 31. I'm convinced there is more from Edler to come, and I'm DAMN thankful he's locked up.

Rick Grimes
The only thing you can compare Edler to Lidstrom is they are both Swedish. Very different type if players. Edler definitely has some great potential but he's no where near Lidstrom
mpt
Absolutely different types of players - but I still think the potential is there to become something truly special; I don't think he'll end up having the same type of HoF career as Nik, but I'm convinced there is something more than what we've seen in Alex. Down by the River
I watched some of the highlights from the 2011 cup run. Edler was an absolute beast. His problem is consistency, and maybe that had a lot to do with the fact that he has never played an NHL game for a coach other than AV/Bowness. Maybe he just needs to hear things from a different perspective. Having Rick Bowness tell you what to do for seven years, your entire NHL career, could certainly be difficult. Give the guy a chance under Torts.

Shredder
He'd probably just give a list of teams he's willing to waive his NTC for, it's usually what happens
Dogbyte
It's a WSWH clause. We're stuck with him.
wallstreetamigo
Edler does not have Lidstrom's level of hockey IQ nor does he have the same ability to think the game and be steps ahead of the opposition. Edler is a reactive type of player and too often reacts poorly to situations, especially defensively. He certainly has the potential to be better but he is not a once-in-a-generation type dman. Jai604
I don't know if we'll ever see the Edler from 2011 again. He was a monster that year, but his back injuries have honestly taken quite a toll, it seems.

Brick Tamland
On CapGeek there are FULL NTC and NTC (Bieksa vs. Edler) so I wonder if there is some difference?
Leadite
Oh look at that,ANOTHER thread about trading # 23. Hasn't this club had its fill of mistakes lately? IMO. This would be another huge one. Gillis had his chance, and thankfully he said no to the offers. If he had traded him,we would have a bunch of threads about what a dumb move that was. You can't win. LOL. Xbox
Higgins has a NTC too? wtf? It's like he hands them out like halloween candy. Our only players that should have the NTC are Hamhuis/Garrison who signed during FA to play in Vancouver until they retire, The Sedins and Luongo. I doubt ANY other GM would hand a NTC to a player like Malhotra, Higgins, Burrows. When we sign Horvat and Shinkaruk to ELC's, lets give them a NTC while we're at it.
