[Speculation] Chris Kelly and Brad Marchand could be traded

Recommended Posts

Whoever takes these guys could probably really squeeze the bruins, especially if its true that Rask signs a big deal & Bergeron waiting to get re-signed as well. Potential for a similar deal that got Vancouver Ehrhoff (Don't think Gillis has the assets to land Marchand / Kelly & I doubt either waive their NTC / NMC to come here regardless).

It will be interesting to see if Marchand continues his antics on a different club & without so much protection around him.

Marchand would be impossible to add to the current roster given the cap situation.

Kelly however, would be possible. The Canucks would need to go with a 22 man roster. They'd have the space to add another defenseman at around the NHL minimum. This wouldn't be the worst situation as Yannick Weber could potentially fill the role of a 7/8 depth defenseman and a 13th forward (and play whenever either role was required).

Kelly certainly fills the #3C spot nicely. Hard working, gritty checking forward who plays a bit bigger than he actually is (6'0" and around 200 lbs). Around 58% on faceoffs last year (on a sample of approximately 600 draws).

Wonder what Boston would want for him? I've heard as little as a single draft pick in the early to middle rounds from some Boston fans.

Sure if you just look at the score sheet or in nhl14

In real life it's hard to say who is better especially after everything burrows has done for us. Even if you ignore burrows stats in the past, who can forgot that overtime goal against Chicago in our cup run?
