Lui's Knob
http://www.capgeek.com/free-agents/?year_id=2013&team_id=-1&position_id=D&fa_type_id=2 After the 3 day mad rush for signings, the UFA pickings now are slim; Canucks have about 5-7 holes to fill (not including Wiese/Tanev signings). Here are some notables left that are young/cheap that the Canucks could look into or bring in for a tryout: Defense: Tom Poti - Torts will be familiar with his play in the East - aging but may come as a tryout Radek Martinek - big Dman; cheap contract Douglas Murray - Swedish connection? although he may be too rich of a contract to sign here Andrew Alberts - still think the Canucks will wait him out and see if he returns Kurtis Foster - booming shot, big Dman - cheap contract Garnet Exelby - bounced around a couple teams fits the 'bite' the Canucks need Mark Fistric - Canucks have kicked the tires on this guy; replacement for Alberts? Theo Peckham - similar fill in for Alberts and can play 4th line Steven Delisle - CBJ; very young; for AHL Comets Fowards: Brunner - this is a top 6 fit for the Canucks; highly skilled sniper; however likely too rich of a salary if over $2M Prospal - played with Torts in NYR/Lightning <?> - may come cheap for final contract or bolt to KHL Larose - top 9 player; Canucks may look to the Hurricanes again for another player Petrell - decent PK 4th line player Edmonton didn't sign Halischuk - played well in NSH as sandpaper bottom 6 player; cheap contract Aliu - project player for AHL <?> Daugavins - bottom 6 player ; shootout specialist but also whiffed on a game winner in SCF Kostopoulos - bottom 6 player; cheap contract Palmieri - big bottom 6 player; cheap contract Kearns - Canucks connection - big 4th line plug; replacement for Weise? Tryout?
smithers joe
by the time he signs tanev, weise and saves a spot for a rookie to make the team, he won't have money for anyone else, unless, he trades someone away...

canadiangunner
Nice list. i like larose and halischuk up front. On D would like Fistric and Peckham. Given our cap crunch these targets are also the most realistic.

smithers joe
who knows, i don't manage this team but heard that both tanev and weise were close to resigning....sestito may end up being the 13th forward..
timberz21
according to capgeek we have 19 players under contracts and 5.1M cap space left. That excludes Weise and Tanev. Meaning with those two, we only have 2 players left to complete our rosters. If we spend a total of 3.5M$ on Tanev and Weise, we have 1.6M left to sign 2 players. Likely won't happen. Gillis won't be another top 6-9 players unless he unloads booth somehow or someone starts the seasons on the IRLT.
Hodgson!!
The bolded players are players I think the Canucks have a serious chance of getting, and for cheap contracts as well. The unbolded players are players I think we could use, but are out of our price range Sedin - Sedin - Burrows Booth - Kesler - Jensen Higgins - Gaunce - Kassian Richardson - Santorelli - Halischuk Weise Hamhuis - Bieksa Edler - Tanev Garrison - Corrado Peckham - Fistric Lu Lack Great depth throughout the line-up, I just wish we had the cap space to sign Brunner/Grabovski and put them alongside Kesler

Zoolander
Where's Hansen!? He was 4th in scoring on our team and I still see people scratching him in their line-ups...
