I know I said I was gonna vote for Mikhailov, but Bobrov's stats are too good for me to ignore, so I'm voting for him. Bobrov was unquestionably the best pre-summit series player in the USSR.

I haven't nominated a primarily NHL Russian in a while, so I'm gonna nominate Alexei Yashin. True, he was greedy and all, but that doesn't mean he wasn't good. Yashin had two seasons over a point-per-game, including a 94-point season in 1998-99 when he had 44 goals and 50 assists.

Voted for the all time leading goal scorer in the Soviet league, Boris Mikhailov. For those who don't know him from wiki:

Mikhailov played right wing on the top Soviet line of the 1970s, along with left winger Valeri Kharlamov and center Vladimir Petrov. During Soviet League play, he played in 572 games, scoring a record 427 goals along with 224 assists for a record 651 points. On the Soviet national team, he played 14 seasons, most of them as captain. He scored over 200 goals with the national team, second only to Alexander Maltsev. He led his team to the Olympic gold medal in 1972 and 1976, a silver medal in 1980, eight IIHF World Championships (1969–71,1973–75,1978,1979), and nine Izvestia championships. Mikhailov's last game with the Soviet National team was played in front of 14,000 people at Luzhniki Ice Palace. His teammates carried him around the rink on their shoulders to a thunderous ovation. He also won two soviet league MVP's, lead the league in scoring 3 times and was an 8 time all-star. Mikhailov was one of the very few to receive the finest order of the Soviet Union, the Order of Lenin

Nominating one of the top Russian point getters to ever play in the NHL Alexei Yashin. In the 98-99 season Yashin scored 94 pts and had 44 goals finishing second in Hart trophy voting. His 781 NHL points in 850 games has him 6th highest ranked among the highest scoring Russians to play in the NHL ahead of a number of players already added as poll options. Yashin had 295 more NHL points than Afinogenov!!

Feels good to say this... VOTING MALTSEV

Nominating Valeri Vasiliev

played 1967 through 1982. A 9 time World Champion and 2 time Olympic champion and 1 time Canada Cup champion, Vasiliev was the greatest defenseman in Russian hockey history prior to Fetisov. Very similar in style, perhaps Vasiliev would get the nod over Fetisov had Vasiliev had a broader North American audience like Fetisov benefited from.
