Canucks fan in chicago
He's a good 7th defenceman. And cheaper than Ballard.

250Integra
Ballard has produced with every team other than the Canucks.
BananaMash
I thought Alberts looked good when he got to play last year, better than Barker did that's for sure. Reliable 7th guy.
Rypien37
Would much rather have Fistric at this point. Not sure what exactly is going through Gillis' head right now. Last years team failed miserably.....looks like pretty much no changes for the up coming year.....and he expects different results? I understand the cap constricts certain changes but this is a round peg in a square hole mentality....
Plum
He is big, physical and is a really good 6th defensemen. Glad the Canucks are talking with him.

King Heffy
Liked what he brought last year; he was the most improved Canuck in my opinion. Torts should encourage him to play more physically than AV did, which will further improve what he brings to the table. We need another left-handed D anyway, and his skillset is something we need. -Vintage Canuck-
He played pretty decent this year. I would re-sign him as he is a good 7th/8th defenceman.

Dion Phaneuf
Not a fan of his but I wouldn't mind him back for another season if he's paid under a million. He had a bigger impact than Barker last season and has come a long way from his first season here. He's also not a bad option for a physical depth defender...Fistric and/or whoever else we were targeting are probably looking for a bigger role and/or more money/term. IMO this isn't a good move for us. We need to give his spot to somebody else whether it be from the organization or a free agent/trade. Alberts could also use a change of scenery. JE14
Meh. He's not gonna break or make our chance at the cup. Pretty good 7th D-man just don't see how creating the exact same team is going to get results.
Twilight Sparkle
if the money is right, i wouldn't mind. he's a solid depth guy

Where's Wellwood
What if this is because he's having trouble signing Tanev?

SOB for MVP
What exactly was wrong with him as a 7th dman last year? Alberts actually earned a spot in the lineup with solid play in his own end and some nice hits.
