theo5789
It's no surprise that we are looking for a big tough dman to be our 6-8th dman. There's nothing wrong covering all of our bases here. Clearly we want to get the best deal we can for a dman like this and if Fistric is playing hardball for his contract, we are showing that we can look elsewhere. We know what we will get with Alberts, but we won't be giving him too much.
Pears
Fistric as #6, Alberts as #7, and Y. Weber as #8. Sounds good to me.

RunningWild
So...... planning on the same team from the last 2 years? Cool stuff. Guess those 2 consecutive 1st round exits don't matter much.
cmpunk
Yup I agree and he played very decently when called upon last year. But the biggest problem is.. we are Canucks... not much we can do 'bout Ballard now.. that boat has sailed. Well considering the cap restrictions.. is really hard to do any major moves to the roster unless we trade away some big pieces...
Trebreh
I like Alberts, definitely don't mind seeing him back, but Gillis needs to improve the top 6 ffs and get Tanev signed already! whats taking him so long?! it seems like all the teams rfa's are being re-signed except us. King Heffy
I thought we were going to change this team up by trading some of our big pieces for others? Looks like 3rd straight year going to be the same team

Trebreh
Wrong. Roy and Ballard and Schneider and Malholtra and Lapierre and Raymond are gone.

viking mama
I thought Alberts looked good when he got to play last year, better than Barker did that's for sure. Reliable 7th guy.

Rypien37
Your acting as if the 7th/8th defenseman is the difference between this team winning or losing the cup. Alberts was good last year, good depth player with size, hopefully we can bring him back at a good rate.
viking mama
What if this is because he's having trouble signing Tanev?
Keslerific
I wouldnt mind him I guess, he's been decent in the past.
theo5789
Derek Roy played a grand total of 16 games with the Canucks. Ballard was often a healthy scratch and/or injured. When he wasn't he played sheltered mins on the bottom pairing. Malhotra played 9 games for Canucks this yr. Played on the 4th line yr before. Lappy also a 4th liner Raymond should have been playing on the 4th line for most of the last 2 yrs All are 'replacement level players' and therefore should be replaced IMO cause this team almost got swept in two consecutive 1st rounds. Preferably they get replaced with players who are, at least, slighly better than the guys they replaced. So far this summer, that appears to be a no-go. They're prob not gonna move a Edler or Kesler, or one of many guys with NTC. They can switch up the 'replacement level guys'. Personally, I've seen enough of the same lineup yr after yr - and management praying for different results. Been there. Done that. Isn't working. viking mama
He's a good 7th defenceman. And cheaper than Ballard.
