I'm not big on the death penalty, but when I hear of something like this, I can see no reason not to have it...

A B.C. man, who repeatedly sexually assaulted his girlfriend’s two-year-old daughter and kept hundreds of videos and photos of the attacks, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.

The man, who was 27 at the time, started a relationship with the victim’s mother in August 2011. Two months after, the attacks started.

Often called “daddy” by the two-year-old girl, the man repeatedly assaulted the victim for a year, wrote B.C. Provincial Court Judge Roger Cutler in a July 10 decision.

“The long term psychological and emotional harm to the victim is incalculable,” Cutler added.

The pedophile, who remain unnamed, stopped the assaults during a brief period of time fearing he’d be discovered by the girl’s biological father or daycare provider.

The girl’s cries for help were often unanswered and sometimes met with more verbal and physical assaults, the judge wrote.

The man also had genital warts and transmitted it to the girl.

He was arrested on Oct. 4, 2012, at which time police found him sexually assaulting the victim.

Police also discovered 777 images and 72 videos of child pornography in the man’s possession, some of them videos of his girlfriend’s toddler. He later admitted to collecting more than 10,000 images.

A psychological assessment found that the man was unrepentant and had “no regrets.”

“I do not believe that I can be rehabilitated,” the man said during an interview.

He also claimed that he was “gentle with her, I did not hurt her” and that if he “had the chance to go back I would do it exactly the same way.”

According to the judgment, the man took steps to ensure the young girl’s mother wouldn’t interfere with the assaults. These steps remain unclear.

Kept behind bars while awaiting trial, the pedophile got a new tattoo that included the girl’s initials. He said the tattoo symbolizes that the victim was not “trapped.”

The man pled guilty to sexual assault against a child and possession of child pornography.

He’s also permanently banned from entering public parks, swimming areas, daycares and places where children under 16 might be present.

The man will also be unable to gain employment in any position that gives him authority over children under the age of 16.

“The offender was adamant that he disapproves of the social views and laws prohibiting sex with children and that he views such a relationship as the purest form of love,” Cutler said. “He acknowledged no victim impact and demonstrated no victim empathy.”

Sad thing is 12 years is actually a long sentence for pedophiles.

It's pretty embarrassing it follows a similiar partern to superhero world villians. They get busted then get little to no jail time with some therapy and then they get out and go do it all over again.
