higgyfan
Such a sad ending to the career of one of the best 3rd line Cs in the league. If Gillis was wrong in his projection, Manny may get a chance with another team. Time will tell.
nuck nit
Gillis needed the cap room and made a 'judgement' call that served Gillis' purposes at that time.
Batmania
Yes Gillis is hardly renowned for admitting his mistakes. In fact as was shown with Sestito and Ballard he has a pathological desire to make them worse.
nuck nit
Correct me if I am wrong but I cannot find any instance in the past where Gillis has fully admitted to making a mistake.
combover
he should be offered a job with the vancouver organization. face off consultant/ player development, if in fact his playing career is over. he's a high quality person with great skills and leadership. the kind of guy you need around young players especially when dealing with adversity. wish nothing but the best for that guy. CHodgson9
Gillis pretty much killed any chance of Malhotra getting a decent contract this offseason. The stuff about his vision should have been kept private. If he believes he can play and another team feels he can play then let him.
mikeburn
Absolutely, but he doesn't answer to us, he answers to the Aquilini's. In my job, when I've made a mistake, I answer to my boss, not my subordinates or my customers.
Katobaron
It sucks cuz he was a perfect 3 rd line center, now he's useless
TimberWolf
Useless? Useless is someone who can't win a faceoff, doesn't know where to be on the ice and has no sense of passion or leadership in the room. Manny still has all of those things as well as a will to play, and though the eye injury may have taken away a large part of his game he could still be a relatively effective player. It's just a matter of player safety now. So no, he's not useless. Useless would be a label placed on a large part of this forum.
CanucksJay
Imagine we face him the SCF and he dominates the faceoffs playing a shutdown role on the 4th line in their defensive zone... Pretty sure this was a cap related move by MG...unclassy

Guest Pinchin
can you find one of scotty bowman fully admitting to making a mistake? Hoe about Milbury? Pat Quinn?
Batmania
Best retort ever! I'm not sure Bowman made any, but I like it.
